Any play or musical you really enjoyed.
Does not necessarily have to be showing right in the West End either.

OP posts:

The play that goes wrong
book of Mormon

A Strange Loop is meant to be incredible OP, up at the Barbican. On my list, hopefully can get there before it closes!

sjeh · 31/08/2023 22:41

Operation Mincemeat is the best thing I've seen for a long, long time.

TheFlis12345 · 31/08/2023 22:42

I don’t think The Woman in Black is on in London any more is it? I think it closed a while ago but is on tour outside London.

I would be torn between Les Mis and Hamilton depending on your taste in music. I have seen both 4 times and they are truly incredible.

Timeandtune · 31/08/2023 22:45

Guys and Dolls. It’s absolutely sensational

Witness for the Prosecution

I’ve just checked it out and it says it’s an immersive experience.
I would die if someone came up to me asking a question.
or it only that the public vote at the end?

Do you think a 12 year old girl would enjoy The Play that goes wrong ?

Boomboom22 · 31/08/2023 22:49

Spitting image the musical is brilliant if you follow politics and don't get easily offended, especially if right leaning. Literally didn't stop laughing.
Les mis.
Wicked.

BarrelOfOtters · 31/08/2023 22:53

I loved Dear England…brilliant enthusiastic acting, great music….made me cry in a good way. Also national theatre is a great theatre….

MCOut · 31/08/2023 22:56

I would be interested to see what people who have seen think of A Strange Loop. It’s for older teens and up I think. It made me depressed but the writer is clearly so talented and I loved the performers. I can’t wait to see what else he comes out with.

I suggest Hamilton, Phantom of the Opera or Moulin Rouge for happy easy watching.

Frightenedbunny · 31/08/2023 22:57

Hamilton all the way!!

Rachie1973 · 31/08/2023 22:57

DH been to see Crown Jewels tonight with Mel off of Mel & Sue and the guy from the inbetweeners and said it was shit (but Mel was good). So not that one!

We have been to see that this week. I am a regular theatregoer and have been for 25 years - I can honestly say that this is the worst thing I have ever seen on the stage in London….. Definitely not that one!!

WimpoleHat · 31/08/2023 23:00

OnGoldenPond · 31/08/2023 22:58

Dear England at the National Theatre

This is transferring to the Prince Edward - and was absolutely excellent. (I am not a footie fan either!)

MrsSkylerWhite · 31/08/2023 23:00

Yes, Woman in Black is just brilliant, too.

sanityisamyth · 31/08/2023 23:00

Les Mis

TedWilson · 31/08/2023 23:00

Frozen - honestly even as an adult it's spellbinding!

Back to the Future - great fun and amazing effects

2:22 A Ghost Story - different and always a good cast

Jersey Boys - phenomenal

OnGoldenPond · 31/08/2023 23:01

Great play and DH's mate is in it Grin

Miragelifeguard · 31/08/2023 23:01

Six, not what I was expecting, I loved it!

loreau · 31/08/2023 23:01

Here is my ranking from the ones I've seen and are on now or in future:

Hamilton
Standing at Sky's Edge
Book of Mormon
The Effect
Les Miserables
Lion King
Dear England
The Ocean at the End of the Lane
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

JassyRadlett · 31/08/2023 23:01

Another vote for Operation Mincemeat, absolutely lives up to and surpasses the hype.

Bigminnie1 · 31/08/2023 23:02

Loved 2:22 Ghost Story, Book of Mormon, Six and Matilda.
My DD has seen Guys and Dolls twice and loved it as have lots of people I know who have seen it.

Witchcraftandhokum · 31/08/2023 23:04

Six. It's fucking awesome and short. You can still do dinner afterwards.
