How disappointing. I really liked him, thought he was one of the good ones.
3 years! His poor wife.
Same here. I always found him very funny and he came across as one of the more intelligent, less obnoxious ones.
Re the fake Welsh accent, I recall hearing him explaining it ages ago. He said it was a nerves thing, where he felt too vulnerable to appear as he actually was, so he adopted a kind of persona, including the Welsh accent. It wasn't entirely random, as he has a number of Welsh family members.
I suppose you could maybe see parallels between him and people like Gina Yashere, Stephen K Amos and Omid Djalili, who, in their early careers, would frequently initially come on the stage speaking in the strong accent of their parents/family background for a few minutes - whether to break the ice, surprise the audience or as a bit of a vulnerability guard, like Mark claims with his - but then they would revert back to their natural British accents before long, whereas Mark did seem to make it a permanent act.
