I mean, people can behave badly in the marriage and also be genuinely suicidal. It’s not an either/or. Some of the replies to this thread are absolutely disgusting.

Also, having read the piece in the Times I don’t actually think he’s asking anyone to feel sorry for him, or attempting to excuse his behaviour. He’s pretty open about the fact that he did a terrible thing and hated himself for it. He doesn’t attempt to blame anyone else for anything.

I’m not defending him for having an affair at all, but piling on and gleefully slagging someone off for talking about a suicidal episode is pretty shit behaviour IMO.

Isn't his dithering fragility part of his stage persona? Take a characteristic and exaggerate it for comic effect? I wouldn't be too sure it's the reality of who he is.

I was just going to say he was the weakest link by far on his series of taskmaster. Up there with that Iain love island guy for being shit.

Oh and I'm not projecting any personal cheating husband drama onto this. Not all of us have had that pleasure. But I recognise a twat when I see one.

I hope his family are okay having to read him whine on about why it couldn't possibly be his fault he stuck his dick in other women when his wife was pregnant.

Wasted an hour of my life listening to a podcast with this bellend. Of course, he finds anything/anyone to blame but himself for his own behaviour. I only wonder who buys tickets to see these types of people? Someone must like them or they wouldn’t have a career, who are they? Will anyone on here admit to it?

He was the Hilaria Baldwin of comedy.
Put on a Welsh accent for years - even appearing alongside Rhod Gilbert ffs - and stopped when he realised it might come out/he was allegedly having to do the accent all the time in car journeys etc

He mentions his older kid googling him so I'm surprised he's dragging out his dirty laundry in a memoir tbh. So was he shagging Lianne all that time then?

Me. When he was Welsh.
Also bought a book by him The Knot. I wasn't keen as it wasn't funny and ended up being Cement garden-y.
I have also caught him on Next Up Comedy where he does the bumbling, dithering shtick but the audience seemed to lap it up.
As for having kids when he wasn't really ready, that's most of us, isn't it? It's called growing up and getting on with it. I'm crap at adulting and feel a failure most of the time but to use that as an excuse for shagging around is shitty. He probably knows that but hasn't realised that alluding to your ex, your divorce or your kids in your act will bite you in the arse later on in life.

If he was truly remorseful for doing a terrible thing he wouldn't be talking about it in the press for his own (financial) benefit, where his children will one day be able to read about it and all his ex wife's friends and acquaintances can find out all about what was presumably one of the worst things to ever happen to her.

Had the misfortune of going to see him once, was so excruciatingly unfunny I wanted to leave before the interval. Unfortunately I couldn't convince my ex to leave so had to endure the whole gig.
