I'm so bored. What can I play or do on my phone?

I have cancer, having chemo, been in & out of hospital. At home for now and feeling well enough to hold my phone for once, but not much else. Finding it too hard to read a book (chemo brain, exhaustion) and can't really watch TV/movies because I have two small children and while DH is looking after them, I need to keep an ear out. I've spent many hours today scrolling Mumsnet and I have a couple of merge type games that I've been playing, but I'm soooo bored. Any recommendations for games or apps that are good for easy mindless scrolling/tapping??

I quite like a colouring one called Happy Color. It's a colour by number app which is very satisfying when you're finished. It's pretty mindless and can be set down easy enough and picked up again later

Puzzles like crosswords, sudoku etc?
I hope you feel better soon.

Also rewatching 90s/00s shows is great (Buffy, Angel, Burn Notice, to name a few).

Bejewelled.

DysmalRadius · 26/08/2023 18:29

I have a game called IQ Dungeon which is silly and reasonably engaging but not taxing and can be played with half a brain.

Great, thank you, keep them coming!

I normally love things like crosswords, sodoku, I'm just a bit mentally fogged for them at the moment

Why? I'm sure their father is perfectly capable of looking after his own kids if you wanted to watch some telly!

Aside from that, Candy Crush, Soda Crush, Royal Match - all mindless tapping puzzles, but addictive and passes the time

meltingmyhead · 26/08/2023 18:33

Sim city build it, I wasted days during lockdown playing it

allthehops · 26/08/2023 18:34

Words with friends? It's basically scrabble.

Furryrug · 26/08/2023 18:34

I'm a candy crush fan for when I want something to take my mind off things.

allthehops · 26/08/2023 18:35

Oops just saw that you don't fancy crosswords so I expect words is out too...

BrummyMommy · 26/08/2023 18:36

Plants vs zombies is my fave

TreeHuggerMum1 · 26/08/2023 18:37

I’m a fan of the Countdown app. You can pick the mode so you could play it on easy and feel better about the brain fog! Hope you’re not feeling too lousy op.

Homescapes and Gardenscapes are good games, also Lily's garden. I like Jigsaw puzzles HD puzzle games as well.

CastleCrasher · 26/08/2023 18:42

Candy crush, bejewelled, worm.io, tile match, royal match, farm heroes, dice dreams, homescapes all good little time wasters. If you download mistplay and play through it you can earn Amazon vouchers etc (no cost to you and no sharing of bank details needed - it's not huge amounts but if you're playing anyway it's a nice way to get a few free treats!)

I really like Bermuda Adventures. It's not as well known as some of the others but it's reasonably well made and it's an adventure with an extremely loose simple but interesting gentle adventure story that is very easy to follow and the "cut scenes" are not very frequent so it's mindless and nothing really bad happens but it's got a bit more to it than merge games. It also doesn't require any expenditure if you don't want to. And it goes on forever. I've been playing it since DD was born in 2021 and I was stuck under a BF newborn for about 6 weeks, and now I occasionally dip in while I'm waiting for IT to sort out my work computer (annoyingly regular occurrence). Really recommend it.

If you do want another merge game, I'm currently playing Gossip Harbour as well which is a cafe merge.

Stressybetty · 26/08/2023 18:42

Liked Sims Freeplay too but you need to have friends who play it so you can visit their towns when you get to a certain level

Am loving lemmings at the moment. Reminds me of being a teenager. Also chronophoto. Chronic illness sufferer can empathise with many hours in bed needing distraction.

Aserena · 26/08/2023 18:45

Woody Puzzle is nice and mindless and strangely satisfying.

How about podcasts and audiobooks too? I’ve been listening to Sherlock Holmes short stories, Radio 4 dramatisations, easy listening and entertaining but you don’t need to think too much.
Hope you feel better soon x

He really is, and I should try to just relax and leave him to it. It's just tough because they both have SEN, I'm normally their full time carer, and DH also has health issues and has had to carry everything for the last month while I've been out of action. He had surgery a couple of weeks ago (having melanomas removed), I got sepsis and passed out in the bathroom, he couldn't help get me up without bursting his stitches. It's been a really tough time for both of us and I hate being so useless. Not the point of the post but I feel I should explain!
