I've left this super last minute and I'm now panicking. Wedding is Friday with the wedding breakfast starting at 9am and I'm busy most of today. I've seen a dress online that's pretty but it's labelled as a bridesmaid dress.

Wibu to buy this (and pray it fits and I like it on) and wear it as a wedding guest? I got so caught up with summer hols I just thought I'd have time

No idea without seeing the dress.

Hecatoncheires · 23/08/2023 10:42

Can we see the dress?

Furrydogmum · 23/08/2023 10:42

As long as you know for sure the actual bridesmaids won't be wearing it.. 😬

This thread needs pictures. Grin

I said YANBU but I would add that it really does depend on the dress itself and how like a 'typical' bridesmaid dress it looks - some bridesmaid dresses nowadays do just look like elegant dresses/gowns. I'd also bear in mind the colour of the dress and the bride's colour scheme, if you know what that is.

Can't tell without seeing the dress...

That's not suitable for a UK daytime wedding.

Thank you ill keep searching. I prefer maxi as I don't want my legs on show.

It depends what colour the bridesmaid dresses are and what colour yours is. The pictures you posted are very bridesmaid in style i would say.

ShirleyPhallus · 23/08/2023 10:48

They’re both ok but not very weddingy

Id go for something midi?

SiobhanSharpe · 23/08/2023 10:49

It's a bit weird for a 9 am start - it's lovely but quite evening-y.

ThreePlusOne789 · 23/08/2023 10:49

I have this already but wasn't sure if it was 'wedding style' I have a full leg sleeve and wasn't sure if it's appropriate to have it on show

I agree with you the first two are not very wedding breakfast style. I haven't been to a wedding in 10yrs years so I just don't have a clue

There is a difference really between maxi and floor length and the pictures suggest these are floor length (or just about) evening/bridesmaids dresses. Not what I would think is right for a daytime U.K. wedding.

ASOS have lots available on next day delivery. Their Edition range is very nice. And really easy to return too. Good luck.

Going against the grain, I think the strappy one on the right is fine (assuming bridesmaids aren't in navy). The halterneck is too bridesmaid-y. Maxi is fine for a daytime wedding. Wedding breakfast at 9am is unusual to say the least. 'Wedding breakfast' usually refers to the first meal after the ceremony - what is the timeline for the day?

DisforDarkChocolate · 23/08/2023 10:56

Otrium have very quick delivery. All been good when I've bought from there.

DappledThings · 23/08/2023 10:57

The wedding breakfast is a 9am? What time is the wedding? 7am?

Or are they having a mass breakfast before the ceremony? That's a weird set-up.

The first two are too evening gown style and the last one is a bit short I'd say.

SoundsOfNature · 23/08/2023 10:58

I bought mine from Silk Fred which has hundreds of dresses on there and they have DPD next day and Royal Mail 24 hour delivery.

Returns are incredibly easy, free and you just take them to the post office so you could order a few dresses. I bought a maxi dress I could wear again.

Wedding breakfast / traditional ceremony until 12pm register Office 2pm and reception starts at 4 next door to the registry office

If it's before the ceremony that's not a wedding breakfast.
