To think I can make my big belly fatter by next Saturday?

Going to a wedding. I'm a size 8 but I've got a big toddler's belly. And my dress is pleated empire line. Not flattering!!

Reckon I could flatten things down by just doing intermittent fasting and some planks?

Suppose can try and if it doesn't work get an emergency dress on Friday.

Durrrrr I meant less fat, not fatter! Sorry. Loads of fat in my head too apparently.

Don't you have spanx?

CuriousLadyBird · 22/07/2023 16:52

Would shapewear not work?

I'm fat so I don't know if it'll help on a smaller frame but just thought it was an idea.

gogomoto · 22/07/2023 16:53

Exercise, dieting can help a bit (very soon so don't expect miracles) and get some strong hold in pants that go high

Mommasgotabrandnewbag · 22/07/2023 16:53

Spanx love.

steff13 · 22/07/2023 16:53

Well if you want to make it fatter I can definitely guide you. If you want to make it flatter then I would suggest Spanx. You could probably lose a little bit of weight between now and next Saturday but you can't spot reduce no matter how much you lose.

HolidayHollie · 22/07/2023 16:53

I would got for Spanx too. I'm about a side 10, was an 8 before my babies and I'm working on slimming down a bit more, but shapewear definitely helps. I like the Spanx shorts that come up quite high. Also maybe avoid foods that make you bloat for that day and night before.

Catusrusty · 22/07/2023 16:54

Ah flatter I cannot help with.

I accidentally lost too much weight before my wedding and had no time to have my high street dress altered, so had to put on weight fast.

I had some excellent tips regarding fish and chip intake for getting a fatter tum quickly but nevermind.

ForestGoblin · 22/07/2023 16:55

I forgot about spanx!!! It's been so long since I went anywhere with nice clothes. Thanks!

Also wondering if you have diastasis recti (separated abs) as I have and this made a difference to my stomach which was previously much flatter. Worth looking into

medianewbie · 22/07/2023 16:59

Cake. Fish & chips. Beer. Curry. Crisps. Burgers. Fries. Pizza. Hotdogs. More cake.

Ah! flatter you say ???

Avoid things that make you bloat this week (bread? beer? sugar ? )

Buy some decent firm hold shapewear. (M&S, John Lewis)

Enjoy your day when it comes. You will be FAR more aware of your 'impefections' than anyone else will. A relaxed smiling face is beautiful, no matter your size.

Gluten free this week and some intermittent fasting.

I clicked on the thread to see why on earth you wanted a fatter belly by the weekend 😂

Hedonism · 22/07/2023 17:04

I also came to see why you needed to get fatter 😅

More water, less carbs I'd say. Maybe cut out the gluten altogether if it's just for a week.

ididntwanttodoit · 22/07/2023 17:24

loads of water, no carbs AT ALL, shareware. You can do it!!

sadsack78 · 22/07/2023 17:25

Shapewear!Spanx is king.

It's pretty soon so don't torture yourself trying to rapidly lose weight by starving yourself. Weight loss is annoyingly slow.

One think you can do is cut down your salt intake and drink enough water, which will help you have less water retention.

And you're a size 8. Try and be kind to yourself and feel good in your dress. I'm sure no one else looks at you and marvels at the size of your middle! :) we're our own harshest critics.

Beneficialchampion2 · 22/07/2023 17:27

If you have a poor diet high in carbs just eat well for a week eating mainly protein, fibre and greens and watch all that water weight drop off. Heck you might lose some body fat too...

Beneficialchampion2 · 22/07/2023 17:29

Why would intermittent fasting help the OP gain a flatter stomach? Unless the aim is to eat less which you could.just do so anyway eating at normal times...

Arewehumanorarewecupboards · 22/07/2023 17:33

No idea, but I love the accidental title!

Because intermittent fasting is really good for the gut. Helps with bloating and is anti inflammatory which just eating less won’t do.

This. I kept saying "No no no I don't have that" for years but I now think I probably do and am going to make an appointment to get it checked.

Someone said to me the other day that it's not just fat if it's only on your stomach and nowhere else - that's muscle failing to hold things in properly.

Mindymomo · 22/07/2023 18:04

M&S do some great shape wear.

Fivecluckyhens · 22/07/2023 18:08

Lily Sabri summer abs workout on YouTube. Cut of bread and other ‘sun foods’ and drink plenty of water. Spanx too.

All of this. Although for the first (fatter) advice I was going to use Homer's advice to rub food on a piece of paper. If you can see through the paper, eat it Grin

Monsteramum · 22/07/2023 18:11

Go gluten free, intermittent fasting, small portions, and shape wear and you'll be grand 👌
