This has just gone up on Popbitch

>> Wedding hell <<
We all got mail

EDITOR’S NOTE

We have been contacted by George Osborne and Thea Rogers’ lawyers who inform us that ‘The Email’ alluded to in this story is “full of false information” and subject to a legal complaint and police investigation.

Pointing out – as we did – that most of London’s media and much of Westminster had been sent an extraordinary/unprintable email is perfectly accurate and in no way suggests that we endorse the actual contents of the email.

We stand by what we wrote – but while the investigation proceeds we have agreed to not encourage any further speculation. We would also encourage any readers who have a copy not to share it or try to publish it. If you want an almighty headache, there more fun ways to get one.

ForTheSnarkWasABoojumYouSee · 07/07/2023 18:43

I think that that's the sign that the fun is probably over for now. I'm reporting the thread and would recommend that MN take them all down.

Reminds me of Sarah Vine's writing style.

Interesting- SV must have a lot of dirt, and ire to unleash on Gove. Maybe George is just cannon fodder. If any woman can do scorn its SV

I don’t know if the allegations are true or not, but I think the email is a pretty hideous and vile thing to do.

WinterDeWinter · 07/07/2023 18:58

I'm 100% sure it's not Sarah Vine.

Interesting to note from the mirror pics of him picking up his wedding suit that even all that 5:2 -ing can't get rid of that posh Englishman's big arse and childbearing hips.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 07/07/2023 19:08

I suspect that it's his son.

I would normally say that it's an appalling thing to do, but this is George Osborne we're talking about.

If the allegations about sex with a very drunk woman are true, then he needs to be charged with rape.

WinterDeWinter · 07/07/2023 19:09

I don't think it's necessarily a child - you wouldn't believe how badly many poshos write, bearing in mind the hundreds of thousands in fees.

Isn't it extraordinary, though, how people's character is so often written in their faces? When I first saw Osborne I couldn't shake the vision of him as a comedy villain who twirls his moustache - or at the very least, a cad and a bounder from Jeeves and Wooster. And here we are.

I read that somewhere else 10 minutes ago. Are you C&Ping?

I think that like PopBitch the thread here isn’t saying George has done xyz, it’s saying an email has been sent round saying he’s done xyz. Legally there’s a massive difference I believe.

ForTheSnarkWasABoojumYouSee · 07/07/2023 19:23

You're just about fine saying, as Popbitch and the Daily Mirror have, "all the guests at the wedding have received an email full of scurrilous accusations"

But repeating what those accusations are, including the really nasty ones and adding "I always knew he was a wrong-un" is asking for trouble.

Remember John Major and the cook? The New Statesman thought they'd get away with saying (accurately) "there are some terrible and untrue rumours going round about the PM shagging the number 10 caterer". They didn't. Libel 101.

OnlyFins · 07/07/2023 19:24

This is my favourite picture of him. Not that I have a shortlist but you know what I mean!

To offer George Osborne and Thea Rogers best wishes for their upcoming nuptials
RichardsGear · 07/07/2023 19:29

John Major shagged a caterer as well as Edwina Currie?!

INeedAnotherName · 07/07/2023 19:37

Upsizer · 07/07/2023 10:05

Was anyone else reading this in Lady Whistledown’s voice….?

Yes 😂

No, he 100% didn't shag the caterer!

There was a scurrilous and untrue rumour going round Westminster that he was. The Statesman said "there's a scurrilous and untrue rumour going round Westminster that the PM is shagging a caterer". Major and the unfortunate and blameless woman both sued. The Statesman was bang to rights.

No - I asked MNHQ for the first version to be taken down and reposted without the bit I shouldn't have said.

Is he staring at his own reflection? This is now also my favourite photograph of him, too.

FrontEnd · 07/07/2023 20:44

I'm still laughing about Craig David and drinks on Tuesday 🤣

Fruttidelbosco · 07/07/2023 16:08

Will this basically be the best man’s speech?

And the guests can shout ‘Oy, oy!’ heckles at key moments.

The priest can cross himself and raise a chalice in the appropriate bits.

And anyone mentioned can take a bow or do some thrusting actions if that is more suitable.

Wives will tutt, husbands roll their eyes good-naturedly, and everyone can raise a toast to being posh (… and therefore, basically animals).

There. No awkwardness. I’ve solved it for them. Do this 👆

Nailed it

RedToothBrush · 07/07/2023 09:38

This doesn't make it sound like the kids.

That'll be the rest of the guest shifting uncomfortably on their seats too.

Popcorn at the ready 🍿

Changerazelea · 08/07/2023 20:13

Looking at the wedding pictures.... is Thea really only 40? She looks like she has lived 20 lives.

Maybe she's exhausted from all that shagging other women's husbands.

ForTheSnarkWasABoojumYouSee · 08/07/2023 21:19

The cameras caught Samantha Cameron with a facial expression that's the living embodiment of "well, this is all a bit awkward".

SK20772M · 08/07/2023 21:50

Were his older children there? Didn't see them in the pics.
