Ten o'clock news delayed for the tennis

So, the BBC ten o'clock news is not on at ten o'clock.

A tennis match is being shown instead. Not a final. Just a match.

Aibu to not understand why?

I want to watch the news and go to bed.

Or watch it on ITV.

I feel the same, op. Should have put the tennis on 2 instead of an old Alas Smith and Jones.

Read it on your phone, that way you can scroll past anything not of interest.

No one complains when scheduling is changed for football. Some of us prefer tennis to football.

And I'd much prefer tennis to the news. Unless anything significant happens news wise I'm the next hour, nothing will have changed

But the news isn't delayed for other sporting events.

I just don't understand why this is so important.

I'm watching the tennis at the moment, but agree it's annoying when they constantly delay / switch channels from the scheduled tv to keep the tennis on bbc1. I'd happily switch over to bbc2 or iplayer to carry on watching the Murray match.

Are you my dad? He doesn't understand that the news is available online at any given moment either.
