Ten o'clock news delayed for the tennis

So, the BBC ten o'clock news is not on at ten o'clock.

A tennis match is being shown instead. Not a final. Just a match.

Aibu to not understand why?

I want to watch the news and go to bed.

Annoyingly Who do you think you are was moved to BBC2, but I didn’t realise so have missed recording it!

It's 2 weeks out of the year, it's hardly the biggest issue in the world. Just think how often programmes get moved/cancelled etc for the football.
You have several options available

1. Read it online.
2. Watch a different channel.
3. Give it a miss for 1 night.
4. Treat yourself and stay up late

The 10 o clock news is exactly the same on BBC 1 or BBC news. The local news that comes on after maybe different, but there is always local radio for that.

The news is delayed for lots of sporting events.

It's Wimbledon, it's on the BBC every year and programmes are always pushed back. YABU

Lots of people like to watch the news - it is quite a 'thing' in many households, to those saying people don't need to. No, they don't need to, but they want to. Not everybody is on-line (either at all, or 'readily').

I don't generally have a problem with delaying the news for a live sporting event, but it does seem daft not to utilise BBC2 (either for the news or for the match) rather than showing a 30 yr old re-run of a comedy show. Surely that is what should have been bumped for the tennis, not the news.

You can find the news online at any time. A tennis match will only be live then.

The licence fee doesn't entitle you to the scheduling you want. Someone else could say "I'm paying my licence fee to see the tennis live!" Live tv (as opposed to on demand) is never going to please everyone. I couldn't give a shit about any football, but accept that plenty of people do care and therefore the scheduling will all change during big tournaments eg the World Cup.

The news is on 24 hours a day on its own dedicated channel. How can that possibly not be sufficient.
