Ten o'clock news delayed for the tennis

So, the BBC ten o'clock news is not on at ten o'clock.

A tennis match is being shown instead. Not a final. Just a match.

Aibu to not understand why?

I want to watch the news and go to bed.

Other programmes have always had to move aside for Wimbledon, for as long as I can remember.
Since they put roofs on the show courts, that now means that live tennis can be played late into the evening.

This is really in a 'first world problem' category!

They used to cancel kids tv for the cricket. Now that was harsh.

I'm quite surprised anyone watches the news any more.

Actually I remember a movie I was watching being cancelled when I was a kid because the gulf war had started. I remember feeling really peeved that my movie had been cut short!

The news is often delayed for sport!

And Wimbledon is only 2 weeks of the year, so a close/exciting match will always take precedence.

And a British player is involved.

It is a significant match and started hugely late (no ones fault)

Ive also missed Who do you think you are, hope its on catch up in the normal way even though it wasnt shown at the time it was meant to be

Watch the myriad of other channels then go to bed. I feel for you if the BBC is your only source of news.

I never watch BBC news, but you could just watch it on the BBC news channel if you prefer it.
Or you could watch the 10 o'clock news on ITV.
There are other news channels available if you fancy a change.
Wimbledon always takes priority for the couple of weeks it is on.

10 pm news is on BBC1 and BBC news channel. So it is available elsewhere not just on BBC1

I do but in my own home when it messes with my soaps but really when they start the soaps early and I haven’t checked . Though I do get over myself 🤣

I’m cross too! We always watch the 10 o’clock news on the BBC, and no, I will not watch ITV or the BBC news channel.
