NC for this as i can't believe i'm posting it. MN can verify that i'm not the poo troll. I've been here years. Penis beaker etc. First world problems i know but i am mildly irritated about this...

I have family here for tea.

My flat has one toilet, which i was using to do my business.

No sooner have I sat down the door handle starts rattling with somebody trying to get in, I call out "I'm in here, won't be long"

A minute or so later (literally) a voice calls through the door "OneLoo, how long are you going to be? X needs to use the toilet"

FFS. I hadn't been in there any longer than 3 minutes at this point.

I'm not finished but abort mission as being badgered and rushed is making things take even longer and now i'm pissed off to boot.

I come out and somebody else goes in to do the very thing i was trying to do myself and sits in there for 10+ minutes.

AIBU to think this was really bloody rude and bad mannered?

I forgot to add. The other person has no medical problems that make them unable to wait.

Dragonsandcats · 16/06/2023 18:28

I would hate that. I need peace and quiet to do my business!

Anotherblueday · 16/06/2023 18:30

You didn't have to let them in.

Smartiepants79 · 16/06/2023 18:30

Just shout back - I’ll be out in a bit! How were they to know you weren’t just taking a leisurely wee and daydreaming on the loo.

OneLooWhatToDo · 16/06/2023 18:31

Me too. Such a liberty. Grr

I already shouted out that i wouldn't be long, then they send somebody else back on their behalf 😂

I don't think it would make any difference if i was having a leisurely wee and daydreaming, the fact was i was on the toilet and so it was engaged. You can't go rushing people off the toilet in their own home.

Who are all these people?

I know that, but they had created a situation in which i no longer felt comfortable / able to continue being in there. Nobody wants to feel timed do they?

As i said in my OP, family members. I don't think it matters who IE DM / DF / DSIS etc.

Bit of a rude way to go about it but we have one loo in our house and do have to do a bit of shuffling sometimes. If we ever move two toilets is going to be top of my list!!!

It does a little bit - are we talking about 2/3 year old who is still learning to go, maybe someone who had a runny tummy, or just someone with no manners.

Dacadactyl · 16/06/2023 18:38

I'd say it'd be ok to hurry you up if it was for a small child, but otherwise it's a bit odd unless you'd been in there ages.

Smartiepants79 · 16/06/2023 18:39

Maybe they were desperate? They don’t need to have a disability or chronic illness to be struggling to wait! Sometimes when you need it, you need it!

Oh no nothing like that, not a toddler / small child or somebody with an upset stomach. Just somebody who didn't want to wait and felt that their bowel movements are more important than mine 😂

Ok so just someone with no manners!

I would have taken my time if I were you!

But I needed it, that's my point. I wouldn't dream of acting like that at somebody else's home. If they are on the loo i assume they need to be in there and that's that.

You're enabling them, so for that reason I voted YABU.

I would've told them to bugger off and taken my time in my own toilet in my own home.

Coronationstation · 16/06/2023 18:58

“I’m not finished but abort mission”?? How much advance planning were you putting into your ablutions? Surely if you need to go you just go and leave the bathroom? I thought my dad was the only person who goes for a long sit down in anticipation of a poo being due in the next hour (and yes I have evicted him from his throne cos otherwise I’d have shat myself)

It wouldn't have taken long but believe it or not sometimes when somebody needs to go, and actually does need to go, it can take a little bit of time to have a complete bowel movement. I'd rather not go into such detail but i was around half way done.

I would have stayed silent. That kind of entitled behaviour for no reason drives me mad.

Or, I would have shouted screamed at the person to go down the pub and use their toilet. Hmmph - but I'm hard nosed.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 16/06/2023 19:03

That's rubbish. The only exception might be for potty training child. I would have said 'Bugger off - you'r putting me off'

The same here! DH annoys me some mornings. I'm generally first up and go straight to the loo but he sleeps on the side of the bed next to the bedroom door so gets up and zooms into the loo while I'm walking round the bed! Grrr

Topseyt123 · 16/06/2023 19:09

I'd have made them wait.

BenandGerrys · 16/06/2023 19:10

All I can say is that it's coming to something when someone can't have a cr@p in peace on their own lavvy. 🙄

BittenontheBum · 16/06/2023 19:12

Buy a hewee/shewee and leave it on the table when you go to the bathroom.
Maybe label it though just incase there's any nasty surprises 💩😉
Yanbu, that behaviour from an adult is ooo!
