Rushed from the toilet so somebody else can go..

NC for this as i can't believe i'm posting it. MN can verify that i'm not the poo troll. I've been here years. Penis beaker etc. First world problems i know but i am mildly irritated about this...

I have family here for tea.

My flat has one toilet, which i was using to do my business.

No sooner have I sat down the door handle starts rattling with somebody trying to get in, I call out "I'm in here, won't be long"

A minute or so later (literally) a voice calls through the door "OneLoo, how long are you going to be? X needs to use the toilet"

FFS. I hadn't been in there any longer than 3 minutes at this point.

I'm not finished but abort mission as being badgered and rushed is making things take even longer and now i'm pissed off to boot.

I come out and somebody else goes in to do the very thing i was trying to do myself and sits in there for 10+ minutes.

AIBU to think this was really bloody rude and bad mannered?

And for those who are wondering why going to the loo isn't done in seconds I have just two words: 'period poo'.

Hear hear, sister

OneLooWhatToDo · 16/06/2023 19:51

I think those you with toilet hugging husbands should nip round to ContinuousProcrastination's house next time, she's in and out in 12 seconds flat dontcha know 🙄

I'm sorry, that must be awful to live with.

Serious question though and not intended to sound sarcastic but if somebody is sitting on that toilet doing their business what exactly do you suppose they do? Crap themselves? Go in the bath?

TBH and probably this is too much info, when I've been in this (absolutely horrible) position, I've been so panic stricken that I'd have kicked down the door and hauled the poor person off the loo without giving it a second's thought. Thankfully now receiving treatment for it, but have discovered that it's a far more common problem than anyone realises. It's just so embarrassing that no one talks about it.

cocunut · 16/06/2023 19:55

I live with 3 others (men!!!) with one bathroom. They do this ALL THE TIME. It does my HEAD in, OP.

TroysMammy · 16/06/2023 19:57

Of no children around you should have said the following the way Waynetta Slob would have bellowed if disturbed, "I'm 'aving a shit".

Bluetrews25 · 16/06/2023 20:00

Can only imagine a man doing this, then sending another woman to clear the way for him.
Am I wrong??
A male prolonged dump with men of a certain age always seems to take priority.

Regholdsworthswaterbed · 16/06/2023 20:04

I'd have told them to piss off and let me poo in peace but I'm getting the feeling that wouldn't be appropriate in your family

MerryHen · 16/06/2023 20:05

Oh gosh OP, I feel you.

We also have one toilet and my toilet time is regularly disturbed by family members (admittedly one of them is four but the other is a grown ass adult).

If I see DH has locked the bathroom door I quietly go away instead of asking him if he's on the loo (yes, that's why the door is locked)

For those interested Re: organ prolapse. I too have one after pushing out DC3. In order to avoid further damage I "set up" to do a number 2 by placing a step in front of the loo to raise my legs up, and to avoid straining try to relax and breath out the poo while thinking of waterfalls and falling bubbles.

It's hard to relax with someone outside the door 😅

TooJoy · 16/06/2023 20:09

I’ve had to do this myself.

My 15 y/o DD was in the toilet and I was so desperate that I had to ask her to be as quick as she could.

I wasn’t expecting her to come straight out but I was literally about to go any second and so the quicker she got out the better.

If she had said she couldn’t then I would have had to of gone in a bucket or something but if she was able to finish or stop long enough for me to quickly go then there’s no reason she couldn’t do that.

This sounds like my routine! I use DC's childrens steps 😄

I must admit, I'm relieved that I have a 'usual time' to go and a fast drop. It means I can be done and dusted before DH wakes up, so no danger of clashing at the toilet door. He doesn't understand how I can go so fast, I don't understand why it takes him so long. I think we must just have different 'sensors' or something.

OneLooWhatToDo · 16/06/2023 19:01

It wouldn't have taken long but believe it or not sometimes when somebody needs to go, and actually does need to go, it can take a little bit of time to have a complete bowel movement. I'd rather not go into such detail but i was around half way done.

I just want to say you have incredibly precise bowel control (this is a compliment)

ContinuousProcrastination · 16/06/2023 19:33

Sorry why did you need to be in the loo for more than 3 mins?

You go when you need to go, you sit, it comes out, voila. If you are having to push/force it and its taking several minutes you a) are doing it wrong b) probably are not eating enough fibre & drinking enough water.

I think you're leaving it a bit late!!

Spidey66 · 16/06/2023 20:21

Tbf, if the family member had issues, they wouldn't necessarily tell you. I've had issues but am too embarrassed to talk about it.

Even if they have issues OP was mid poo so someone is going to have to find an alternative venue

FrostieBoabby · 16/06/2023 20:24

For me, the biggest BU is doing that in someone else's house in the first

RushieRoo · 16/06/2023 20:24

YANBU. This thread is stressing me out. I would’ve had to wait for the guests to leave before I even contemplated using the toilet.

FrostieBoabby · 16/06/2023 20:25

......place. You save that for for you're own home!

Newnamenewname109870 · 16/06/2023 20:25

Now wondering what you ate so that you all needed to poo at the same time 😂

DoubleTime · 16/06/2023 20:28

This is so so funny

Daffodilsandtuplips · 16/06/2023 20:30

Once I’m in there I’m not coming out until I’m done. There’s no way I could stop mid stream or mid plop.

DoubleTime · 16/06/2023 20:30

Sorry OP I was referring to the post about being in pub toilet that ended in climbing out the window and leaving impatient person with the locked loo door

We were yet to eat so I take no responsibility for their urgency 😂

For me.. nothing since noon and that was a cheese and pickle sarney

Oh, I need to add this to thread where the woman was asking us about the joys of living alone. And also to that thread we had ages ago about not answering the door when people call round.

I sit on the throne for ages doing my thing and daydreaming and whatever.
