Aibu unreasonable to ask you your most favourite 90’s song? Something you go back to again and again especially when you’re drunk or high…

Insomnia by Faithless
Opening chords still gives me goosebumps.
Takes me right back to Stoodi Bakers in Birmingham on a Sunday night.
My 16year old loves it too 😀

I have so many 90's songs on my spotify. But JX there's nothing I won't do is in my top 3 happy dance songs.

Followed by Sunchyme by Dario G and Needing U David Morales.

I love the indie stuff too but the dance songs always perk me up!

DottyDry · 15/06/2023 17:33

Just check the playlist again because I couldn't remember this one's name but Played A Live - The Bongo Song is a good upbeat dance one too!

Here Comes the Hotstepper isn't a song I like but weirdly I always feel the need to either strut through the house when it's on or nod my head Flat Eric style to it if I'm in the car

LaMaG · 15/06/2023 17:45

My recollection is that the 90s had 2 very distinct genres, dance and indie/grunge and it wasn't just the music there was a whole subculture, different clothing, different pubs/clubs. I was very much on the grunge side and really hated the dance stuff but funnily enough it's the dance stuff that really hits me with nostalgia now. I guess it was the soundtrack to my life

Fiona dances to that in Shameless when she gets her handbag nicked and meets Steve for the first time.

What a thread!!!
I'm looking forward to my drive to work in the morning with my updated playlist!!!
Mines Trash by Suede
I blew a set of speakers up listening to this, I'd not even finished paying for the entire stereo system from my mums catalogue

Seriously79 · 15/06/2023 18:02

Great thread! I'm a-bit emotional thinking about all of these!

I did my GCSE's in 95, that summer I had my first boyfriend and the following years were just partying , in between college and a part time job. No responsibility, just friends spare cash and fun.

pinksunglasses · 15/06/2023 18:04

The entirety of The Holy Bible by the Manics. The whole thing. (I especially love watching the Top of The Pops performance of ‘Faster’ - wee teenyboppers smiling and dancing along to James Dean Bradfield in his IRA balaclava!)

Also, Laid by James 💕

Brimful of Asha by Cornershop and There’s Nothing I Won’t Do by JX

You mean Real Good Rasher by cornershop. At least that's what I always sang.

poppym12 · 15/06/2023 18:14

Nirvana, Oasis, Pulp.... Probably loads more as the 90s were great for music.

poppym12 · 15/06/2023 18:18

And the Stone Roses debut album is still listened to (although I think it was actually released in 89)

HRTQueen · 15/06/2023 18:29

Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy
Madonna - Justify My Love
Portishead - Sour Times
Air - Sexy Boy
Radiohead - Creep
Jamiroquai - Do You Know Where You’re Coming From
Nirvana - Lithium
Hideaway - De’Lacy
Rip Groove - 99 Double (can remember when it first played in a club was so different sounding everyone went crazy)
Spin spin sugar - Sneaker Pimps

MummBRaaarrrTheEverLeaking · 15/06/2023 18:39

Oh that's easy, Everlong - Foo Fighters. It's my favourite song full stop so didn't have to think too hard about it!

Awesome memories of seeing them in Newport in 1997. Nothing like the stadiums they play in today!

@tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz
It was either BBCR6 or BBC4 - I've had a quick search and a few things pop up but say not available, sorry!
