Aibu unreasonable to ask you your most favourite 90’s song? Something you go back to again and again especially when you’re drunk or high…

OP posts:

This. The original mix that starts with the thunder clap is actually better than sex! And I've never been high but drunk many times.......

Yes, that's the one. it starts with three seconds of rain, then the thunderclap, then the keyboards come in.

Also the bit in the middle when the beat suspends and the rain and thunderclaps come in and it's just the vocal. Then the beat drops again and.....ohhhh shivers

One Ecstacy, it came very close to a religious experience, that song

Agreed even without the E. Even at the tender age of 18 I could see the way my life was going, and if anyone was not going to come out of a bad trip it was me 🤣 never touched drugs for that reason!

Thread of the Year OP, thanks Grin

Music has an almost physical place in my memories of growing up and the 90s were my formative years. Christ I miss them.

Songs that make the ache of nostalgia almost overwhelming include, for me -

Hedonism, Skunk Anansie
Sophie B Hawkins, Damn I wish I was your lover
JX There's nothing I won't do
Beach ball, Naline and Kane
Dario G, Sunchyme
Pulp, Sorted for Es and Whizz - hence my username. The lyrics are so so true!

So many more to add a reckon Grin

whumpthereitis · 15/06/2023 15:44

Ten Crack Commandments -Notorious B.I.G

Doll Parts - Hole

Massive Attack unfinished sympathy - my absolute all time #1 and it still sounds so fresh despite being over 30 years old.
There was a documentary a while ago about the whole making of the track, the distorted strings and composition, really good.

Ooh can I ask where you watched that?

Steakandquinoa · 15/06/2023 15:47

YABU to make me choose one-
but N-Trance Set You Free. I immediately feel like I’m 18.

Tarkan · 15/06/2023 15:47

So many of these and I could add loads more if I could remember anything else.

But definitely anything by James, my favourites are probably Laid, Born of Frustration and She's a Star.

I'm going to be adding a lot of these to my Apple Music playlist for sure though.

I've been having fun listening to some of my favourite 90s bands on our Alexa when I'm making dinner. Stereophonics and the Manics have made a good few appearances.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 15/06/2023 15:49

Soul 2 Soul Get a life

Faithless, Insomnia

What I do loved about being out then was even as a drinker only (was way too scared of drugs but man, I'm still curious as hell!) no one batted an eyelid if you just got up and danced on your own for ages. Probably coz everyone was off their tits but even so. No judgement and no hassle.
