Tesco Complaint

Has anyone complained to Tesco? How did you do it?

I phoned Tesco this morning to complain. The automated voice said the wait time was 3 mins. I waited and waited and waited, the phone was finally answered after over 25 mins. I said to the woman, 'I've been waiting on hold for over 25 mins' and she said she didn't believe me. 😮 She then dismissed it by saying 'we're busy'. She also dismissed me when I explained my complaint.
I couldn't find a way to complain on the Tesco website so I searched online for an email address. I found one and emailed my complaint to that, only for it to bounce back and say the address is no longer monitored. The Tesco website says you can whatsapp them, so I tried sending my complaint through that but the message will not go through 'message send failure'. I'm sending other messages through whatsapp so I don't think it's my phone.
WTAF!
How do you complain to Tesco??

I'm now raging I've spent (wasted!) most of my morning trying to figure out how to make a complaint. 😡

I tried to complain via their WhatsApp contact last month after a delivery issue, but they basically said there was nothing they could do about it and were basically very unhelpful in the matter - I really wasn't at all impressed with their so-called "customer service".

MooMooSharoo · 14/06/2023 11:50

I second Facebook messenger. Not Tesco, but I used it on Fridayto complain to M&S - had an e-voucher within half an hour of my original message.

IMustDoMoreExercise · 14/06/2023 11:52

I have never had a problem ringing them and complaining. They have always been great.

Once I couldn't get any deliver slots in my area (there was a technical issue). The people on the phone kept fobbing me off telling me to try again or that they were all taken.

I knew that there was a technical issue so I emailed the CEO and their team contacted me and sorted it out within a couple of days.

Minfilia · 14/06/2023 11:53

You think a big corporation like Tesco wants to hear your complaint? Hahahahahahahaha

(seriously though its so annoying when you end up ringing a call centre and speaking to minimum wage staff in another country who clearly are never going to give a shit)

I just found two dead flies in my sealed Tesco bag of lettuce so I burned it and will never eat lettuce again. Cba to complain though, not worth the energy for the £1 something it actually cost!

ksjsb · 14/06/2023 11:57

Last time I asked the official route to complain I was given the CEO email (obviously his office replied) it solved the issue although it's not the route I like to go through, feels a bit unnecessarily dramatic, I know the CEO won't read my complaint! Anyway I haven't got the email now, but I would WhatsApp them for the official route.

Winnerturkeydinner · 14/06/2023 12:01

By beginning the conversation with "I've been waiting 25min" will just anmoy your call handler, why would they actually want to help you. It's not their fault the queues are long. Having worked in customer facing rolls for a long time, the customers I go over and above for a the ones who are polite etc. Ranting sarcastic ones, I don't give a shit about. Manners cost nothing.

Aavalon57 · 14/06/2023 12:03

I have always managed to get through to complain via Twitter DM.

Thatladdo · 14/06/2023 12:25

Social media everytime.
Companies seem to hate it, anytime ive had an issue and resorted to it ive had quick positive results

BellaEllaWella · 14/06/2023 12:30

Email the CEO and he’ll have a team of people who pick up complaints:
[email protected]

therescoffeeinthatnebula · 14/06/2023 12:38

Twitter. You don't even have to tag them publicly; you can go straight to sending them a private DM, and they'll still respond quickly, i.e. they don't need to be shamed to jump into action.

The Tesco customer service team on Twitter are brilliant.

CharChar91 · 14/06/2023 12:41

Tesco are a nightmare for this, you used to be able to email them and they put a stop to that 🙄 twitter is a great tool for getting complaints resolved imo.
I sound like an experienced complainer, I'm not - honest!

FlamingoQueen · 14/06/2023 13:17

Use Messenger

LoopyLoo1991 · 14/06/2023 17:02

Customer service staff at Tesco seem to be untrained in both stores & online.

Whole group of us has terrible food poisoning from their chicken products a few years back & they fobbed us off until others in local Facebook group page posted similar stories.

A Tesco employee was on there and stated that the fridges in local store were faulty & that was cause of problems.
We recontacted online CS & they soon changed their tune.

Remember the "Tesco Xmas Rotten Turkeys" in 2017?

Think Tesco taken so many knocks and scandals in last decade or so, staff no longer give a crap. Barring the tiny Tesco Local all the staff in the huge stores are extremely belligerent when you ask them anything. Hourly paid staff and those on salaries in management seem to detest one anothers - with an extreme 'them & us' culture clash. Plus managers covering up for managers doing bad things and using part time staff as scapegoats. Security is outsourced and normally incompetent.

Only competent person behind customer service left to work at local Morrisons. He hated his Tesco line managers attitude.

Much prefer Sainsbury & ASDA for staff friendliness.

Apologies I had to go to work and didn't get off until late. Before heading off to work yesterday I messaged this email which seems to have worked. I got this reply
Thank you for taking the time to contact our Chief Executive's office.

We’ve received your message and will be in touch as soon as possible.

You can find answers and guidance to our most commonly asked questions on our FAQ page.
Alternatively, if you’d like to speak to us sooner, please visit our contact us page.

Kind regards,

Group Chief Executive’s Office

I managed to get a whatsapp message to go through at about 10:30 yesterday morning and it said 'a real person' would contact me within 2 hours. It's now 8;30 the following morning and I've had no reply.

Why do they keep giving time frames 'we'll answer your call in 3 mins' 'we will send you an email within 15 mins' 'a live person will contact you within 2 hours' but they don't actually do what they say they will do within their own time frame. 😡

Today I've got an hour to waste before work so I'm going to try social media and see if that helps.

I have also just had to complain to Tesco, I did a click and collect order and the employee was very rude and threatening! I managed to send a message to them via WhatsApp and got the response 'It's us, not you. We're down for routine maintenance, but will be back soon. Hold fire for two secs and we'll pass you over to a human who can help. Connecting to a human'.

I have checked on the website and it says that the line is monitored from 7am to 11pm and my message sent at 10:57, so I suppose I should get a response tomorrow.

I did find that I couldn't add them as a contact on WhatsApp. I had to add them as a contact on my phone first, and then go into WhatsApp and send them a message.

I would try again and see what happens!

Good luck!

P.S. Ignore people that are saying things such as 'you've wasted time complaining' and 'just let it go'. Some things do warrant a complaint so that they can be investigated. If I don't report the way this man treated me then nothing will be done about it and he may very well do it to another woman. If you feel that whatever it is warrants a complaint, then it does!

Hope this helps.

Justme1974 · 16/06/2024 22:15

Tesco don’t care at all Best way to complain there ceo Ken Murphy and just to let you know his earnings are just short of 10m for last year so yes he can take some complaints for his money no one’s worth that pay
