Tesco Complaint

Has anyone complained to Tesco? How did you do it?

I phoned Tesco this morning to complain. The automated voice said the wait time was 3 mins. I waited and waited and waited, the phone was finally answered after over 25 mins. I said to the woman, 'I've been waiting on hold for over 25 mins' and she said she didn't believe me. 😮 She then dismissed it by saying 'we're busy'. She also dismissed me when I explained my complaint.
I couldn't find a way to complain on the Tesco website so I searched online for an email address. I found one and emailed my complaint to that, only for it to bounce back and say the address is no longer monitored. The Tesco website says you can whatsapp them, so I tried sending my complaint through that but the message will not go through 'message send failure'. I'm sending other messages through whatsapp so I don't think it's my phone.
WTAF!
How do you complain to Tesco??

I'm now raging I've spent (wasted!) most of my morning trying to figure out how to make a complaint. 😡

@iamraging call the number on the back of your Clubcard - 0800 591688
My sympathies, as a customer & former employee, Tesco can be a right arse to deal with.
Store staff won't have access to your details, but if you have plenty time to spare, ask them to phone for you

melj1213 · 14/06/2023 09:57

What is your actual complaint about?

If it's a store specific issue (late delivery, store staff, out of date items etc) then you're better off going into the store to speak to someone as all that happens when you call the call centre is they refer it back to the store to follow up anyway.

I would also suggest going in to the store even if it's an issue with a product - quality etc - because you get a much more immediate solution to the issue than waiting forever for the call centre to make a decision and if it's not worth the trip to store then is it really worth all the faffing with calling/emailing?

Use Messenger. They respond quickly and have always sorted out any problems or refunded where necessary.

Nellynoowhoareyou · 14/06/2023 10:00

I have complained twice about my online order via WhatsApp and they’ve dealt with it promptly and faultlessly both times.

AnObserverInThisDarkWorld · 14/06/2023 10:04

Social media is the place to go for complaints
They respond quicker because they don't want it obvious they have complains unresolved

Those of you telling me to whatsapp, what number are you using?
I have whatsapped the number on their website 0800 9177 403 and it's not going through. Is anyone else able to whatsapp that number now? Maybe it's just my phone not working although I have been whatsapping with other people and it seems fine.

I phoned this number this morning and waited on hold for over 25 mins. Their initial message said hold time of 3 mins. The woman who finally answered would not take my complaint, wouldn't escalate it, wouldn't do anything. It was a complete waste of 30 mins.

My issue is with my clubcard. The local store won't deal with it.

Clubcard is a differnt thing entirely to the store, theres no access to any systems and its not something thats dealt with in store, obviously if staff have been rude or unhelpful that needs bringing up but clubcard issues arent something they can fix for you

Trez1510 · 14/06/2023 10:14

Something has changed regarding how poi.nts can be used with their deals for things like days out, discounts on meals at certain restaurants. I don't know what has specifically changed but there have been notifications everywhere about the change. If the complaint relates to that it may be worth googling the specifics of the changes. Otherwise twitter I'd your friend.

I’ve always had good results from sending them a message through their Facebook page - apart from the time I’d bought a chicken on the Saturday for the Sunday, it was in date for a good few days past that, but it just wouldn’t cook - there was blood pouring out of it after hours of cooking and it looked awful. The problem was, I’d put the packaging into a bin bag and then emptied two cat litter trays on top of it and cleaned out the rabbit and that rubbish was also on top of it and it was already in the outside bin but they wanted a photo of the bar code and date from the packaging so they wouldn’t do anything about it!

Gingercatlover · 14/06/2023 10:23

I contacted them via Messenger they replied really quickly.

Emmacb82 · 14/06/2023 10:27

Another vote for Facebook messenger, got back to me quickly and problem resolved. To be fair the Clubcard deal thing was supposed to have ended yesterday and has been extended to Thursday so they probably are very busy dealing with lots of queries at the moment, not right that they did dismissed you without helping though

Leftbutcameback · 14/06/2023 10:35

Twitter is my first choice - they usually ask you to DM them quickly. WhatsApp works too but is slower.

Interestingly when I go to my WhatsApp chat with Tesco (using the number OP posted above) there’s a blue message saying Tesco is working with other companies to manage the chat. Very strange?

Sissynova · 14/06/2023 10:54

What number did you call?

Their website states this is the number for clubcard help.
0800 591 688

Rainbowrocket234 · 14/06/2023 10:57

WhatsApp is the best way. I complained about all my fresh meat and fish being delivered with only 1/2 days before going off and they refunded me instantly. Whole thing took about 10 mins. I couldn’t even drive to my closest store that quickly.

Also, yes it’s still working for me today so possibly your phone?

2bazookas · 14/06/2023 10:58

Go to the store , ask any member of staff for name of manager, then say

"Thankyou, Name of staff. I'd like to speak to Name of Manager right away , please>"
If M is Unavailable, ask for name of their Deputy, and ask to speak to them.

Make a note of the name of each person you speak to, so they know they are accountable. Be polite, calm.

mollibu · 14/06/2023 11:07

I had a problem with my club card yesterday and whatsapped the below number and they came back to me within the hour and sorted it!

+44 800 917 7403

LillyoftheMountain · 14/06/2023 11:10

'I've been waiting on hold for over 25 mins'

Why did you say that to the person that answered the phone? Very odd behaviour indeed.

Why didn’t you raise a complaint when you were on the phone speaking to someone from Tesco?

What are you complaining about and what do you want from Tesco?

Blanketenvy · 14/06/2023 11:11

I complained recently via WhatsApp (delivery was cancelled at end of delivery slot and had to go to a store to collect it) initially it's a robot that replies but then you are transferred to a human.

Not for the club card 🙄 at least read OPs posts.
