Ever get the impression people just love to tell your wrong it a really horrible way.
you post on here and have to accept people with think differently to you but the amount of comments I see that are just quite nasty in the way they say it.
no need in my opion, you can say what you think but no need to be quite so aggressive.

YABU

It's really more like 70:30.

MayBeeJuneSoon · 31/05/2023 09:09

I don't think many are nasty

People are too sensitive

Bilbo1237 · 31/05/2023 09:09

You ask for an option on one particular thing and they question your whole family dynamic. Must be great to have the perfect family and have life sussed out😂

It's good practice for real life and ignoring idiots/keyboard warriors 😂

Some people just like being nasty.

Some people just aren't very bright and don't read posts properly. Or can't articulate themselves properly.

Some posters drip feed information and don't include important stuff in the first post which means people respond differently.

Its an important lesson in life to not get upset by idiots.

Sissynova · 31/05/2023 09:12

Your post was relevant to your family dynamic.
No one was nasty to you.

What's the point in posting a question on a public forum then complaining people are "opinionated"?

JandalsAlways · 31/05/2023 09:12

A few are, but generally I think it's about right. I feel it's kind of the point. You want advice and you don't need it sugar-coated, otherwise what's the point.

AnOKYearForTheRoses · 31/05/2023 09:12

I always think of AIBU as being what your friends and family really want to say, but can’t/won’t to protect the relationship.

peachicecream · 31/05/2023 09:13

I think quite a lot of people come on here to have a vent/ get something out of their system. They think it's inconsequential because they will never meet the people they are talking to.

WomanOfSteel · 31/05/2023 09:15

Only 50%?! 🤣🤣🤣

dudsville · 31/05/2023 09:16

I don't know the percentage but there are some very emotionally intense posters who seem far too invested in trying to shame strangers on the internet.

Tirq3 · 31/05/2023 09:16

It’s quite funny that the voting is 50/50! But yes, I think some people use it as their opportunity to vent their pent up spite safely.

bathty · 31/05/2023 09:18

I have to confess that I quite like the ones who indulge their secret writing fantasies, eg a poster thinks DH is being secretive therefore he must be having an affair, a 2nd family, etc.

Flunkey · 31/05/2023 09:18

I think Mumsnet has had a clear out of the very worst offenders. It seems to have got a bit better, but yes you need a thick skin on AIBU

bathty · 31/05/2023 09:19

I do think the site is not a middle class as what it's made out to be: do the founders promote it as such or the users themselves? Some of the comprehension is shocking.

ThatsNotGoodMelon · 31/05/2023 09:19

AIBU has always been the bun fight topic, don't post in it if you don't want the the brutal truth. Use Chat instead.

takealettermsjones · 31/05/2023 09:21

I don't mind people being opinionated or even forceful with their opinions. The thing that I find completely ridiculous and boring is the constant "if you disagree with me, you must be stupid" attitude. It's on almost every thread.

"Sorry you're having trouble with reading comprehension," "once again for the hard of thinking," etc. They're really not the witty comebacks the posters think they are; they just show an inability to debate without insulting 🤷🏻‍♀️

bathty · 31/05/2023 09:22

The brutal truth is fine though & often funny. It's the other crap like when a poster asks how to get her dc to behave better at dinner & the thread goes off a tangent because she didn't say supper!

If you are going to criticise the poor comprehension skills of other posters then at least be gramatically correct yourself 😄

I can't understand the "eh" responses. Fuck off!

bathty · 31/05/2023 09:25

@twistyizzy thank you for displaying my example of going off on a tangent! 😆

My grammar is shocking, but it doesn't impact my ability to understand posters.

bathty · 31/05/2023 09:25

That should be can't stand not understand!

Yes this. But also agree with some other people where often they can have extreme views eg LTB for even glancing at another women by mistake or because he forgot to put the bins out, or cut off yiur friend for not inviting you to lunch. I do wonder if these people are serious and if they actually have normal relationships with other people.

This. They really don’t think forward about the effects of being so unpleasant and rude.
Being rude and provocative makes some people feel powerful. It’s very sad.

The whole point of grammar is to aid comprehension though
