To feel upset about my grey pubes

lurchermummy · 19/05/2023 22:57

I was preparing for a weekend away with DH and thought I'd have a little tidy up and was so upset that my pubic hair is so grey and sparse. It really made me feel so old and undesirable. Much more than wrinkles or a saggy belly. I really felt OLD. It quite upset me. Anyone relate? What can I do - can you dye them??

Shave it all off! Job done

Get them waxed off. Problem sorted.

But then I'd have a sad little naked fanny under a saggy belly. It just feels wrong. I've never waxed - always had a bushy bush.

Do whatever makes you feel good. As long as you are feeling it, your DH is going to love any look.

Realize how when you like at pics of yourself twenty years ago, you now know it's ridiculous you ever felt self conscious.

Right now you have a husband, presumably a sex life, the ability to travel, etc. Appreciate what you have now. In twenty years time you might be looking back and longing for the deliciousness of your life now.

Enjoy your time away!

Vajazzle?

When I was young I worked with elderly people with dementia. One particular lady, Marjorie, had the saggiest tummy and thighs. They swung as she moved. Her undercarriage is burned into my memory (I washed it many, many times), so weathered and wispy, baggy and ....well.....OLD. I am now Marjorie.

MonkeyDoodles · 19/05/2023 23:13

I hear you. I'm 38 and had the pleasure of discovering the same recently.
I don't know how anyone could shave it all off. Isn't the regrowth horribly itchy and the stubble too must be awful?

Whatifthegrassisblue · 19/05/2023 23:13

I have wondered about this, because grey pubes are hideous but if you shave then as you get older won't it look just very saggy and sad? What is the solution??

TheSpottedZebra · 19/05/2023 23:17

Can you reframe it?
It's OK to age. It's a great privilege to walk so far though life that your pubes grey!
Having your body, hating TIME, is really not fruitful. Its like showing a piechart to a snail.

Can you blast some Lizzo and practice radical self acceptance?

Daisy62 · 19/05/2023 23:19

Could dye it? But, god, is there not enough to do in life without getting started on that? A merkin?

SocksAndTheCity · 19/05/2023 23:21

Minikini pube dye. I especially recommend the bright pink Glampuss one 😀👍

wildinthecountry · 19/05/2023 23:22

This is me , mine were always fair because I was blonde but now sparse and ..well grey , in ten years time I will no doubt look back and think it wasn't so bad ten years ago 'cos at least they were there .
I'm too afraid to wax in case they .. hang 🙈

morelippy · 19/05/2023 23:25

I love this thread.

I'm happy with my saggy sparse and increasingly straight ( why is that) pubes.

Getting old is a privilege.

wildinthecountry · 19/05/2023 23:28

@ morelippy I was going to bring up my lack of curls down there anymore but didn't 'cos thought it was just me . Why the hell are they going straight now !

Good lord, dying my (head) hair is hassle enough. Maybe it's time to start lip exercises? 🤣

I shave the whole lot off and have done for years. Never had any problem with it at all.

If you want to know... conditioner makes the hairs softer so they shave easy. A waxy deodorant, one of the deodurant stick kinds not roll on, applied straight after prevents any shaving rash at all. Obviously you don't get the deodurant anywhere you intimate you just apply it to the normal skin along the pant line.

I can’t believe I am seeing this post!

Only this week I discovered 3 WHITE pubes….I don’t even have a grey hair on my head yet. I was initially confused and then a little gutted. Weirdly, I had never ever thought that pubes would go grey or in my case white.

Also agree with with a previous poster, the pubes are less curly. Why? I feel old but yes, I do know it’s a privilege. Just gutted though

WhereTheSuburbsMeetUttoxeter · 19/05/2023 23:35

Just go for a neat trim.

I was horrified plucking long existing chin hairs with my nails... You know, sit there for hours trying to get the bugger - and it's fucking white! It used to be black! 🤣

I'm enjoying the sparesness especially pits.

White whiskers still going strong though.

EmmaEmerald · 19/05/2023 23:38

Has anyone actually tried dyeing it? Not including Samantha Jones!

WhenTheBeeStings · 19/05/2023 23:39

I was a little put out when I saw the first grey one. I do wonder why the grey ones are thicker, longer and straighter.
I’m not having the sparse issue though -I wish!
Of all the things to dislike about my body, grey pubes are lower down the list than my wrinkly belly and the ever growing wrinkles & sagging skin on my face.
Half a century gone & most of it wishing I was thinner.
In the future years I won’t ever look as good as I do now!

Assignedtoworryyourmother · 19/05/2023 23:39

I've got (had?) PCOS and despite a hysterectomy, have the MOST luxuriant body hair. I'm like teen wolf. I'm looking forward to this mythical sparseness.
I don't think I'll ever look at my pubes without a mental image of Marjorie...

No hauling my sorry ass upstairs to dye the hair on my head is such a palaver , I don't have shower over bath . I'm not doing that for my now straight pubes .

Eurodiva · 19/05/2023 23:46

I just wish that I could actually see my pubes …every cloud has a silver lining 🤷‍♀️
