Cheese sauce nachos are the best cinema snack?

Now everything is overpriced we know that, and the popcorn smell draws you in but the cheese sauce on the nachos are the best cinema snack right?

The hotdogs are meh.

I guess it doesn't even have to be nachos. Cheese sauce with like potato fry things that they sell is also excellent.

It will never happen but if people could use a cinema with no food items available the ticket prices would sky rocket unfortunately.

@Mouldyfoodhelp
Besides people can eat quietly

But they don't. That's the problem.

But how quiet is your cinema and how close are you sitting to people?

The cinema is quite loud and as I've said previously except for a few blockbusters anytime I've looked for tickets at the cinema there's been loads of space to spread people out

I mean nachos I can kind of see people being able to make some noise but I feel its drowned out by the noise of the film.

I'm not sure popcorn or hotdogs or the like make noise whilst eating

And what are people smelling? I can't say I've ever smelt people's food at the cinema surely that's not a thing...

I always love the smell of cinema nachos! 😳

I never get them though as they can bigger off if they think I'm paying a bazillion quid for snacks at the cinema!

My go to cinema snack is a massive bag of popcorn (purchased for a quid from supermarket) and a massive bag of malteasers tipped into the popcorn and mixed in. I sit in the dark and shovel it into my gob in handfuls and no one can see me! I walk out of the film at the end with popcorn stuck to my arse

barefootgoddess · 28/04/2023 20:16

I used to work in a cinema as a teen and I'd strongly advise never having the cheesy nachos or the hot dogs...

We used to forget to check the temp every hour or so like we were supposed to and make it up once a day.

Not necessarily.

My local cinema is cheaper than the local multiplex. And has all the new releases, as well as the more arty farty ones.

When I was speaking to a manager a few years ago they said they aim to make at least £1000 on food/ drink per screening.

If you have like a 400 seat screening that would be only an additional £2.50 if sold out, but obviously when films aren't as full and say you have only 100 people which is still a lot for a lot of screenings and that's another £25

Is your nose permanently blocked OP? The smell of the food in cinemas is strong!

And people do make a noise eating popcorn scratching around in the containers.

They have a bar so that's where they'll make most of their money just as others make their money from selling food and drinks. Cinemas make very little from the movies alone.

Throwawayme · 28/04/2023 20:20

Oooft no. All the hot food they sell in the cinema is 🤢🤢🤢. I used to go late morning when it was quiet back in the day and take in a coffee and a burger king lol.

Hmm I originally tried this at the cinema during a double bill of the first two fantastic beast films and it was a warm day and the chocolate melted and it was awesome.

I tried it a few more times and it wasn't as hot and the chocolate didn't melt and whilst it was still nice it wasn't as nice. I feel like Maltesers would be a good choice

Odeon nachos yes. Cineworld cheese sauce is inedible and vile.

I don't think so? This is so strange I snell the popcorn walking into the lobby but in an actual screening I've never experienced smelling others food. Maybe I become nose blind to it

Go to Everyman and have one of their sundaes.

My local one rams them full of ice cream/loads of toppings (massive buttons/half flakes ect) and sauce. They are epic and worth the visit on their own.

Yup.

It’s also well known as the cheapest bar in town. Cheaper than almost all the pubs - the only cheaper one is the local Spoons.

Nah the best early morning cinema was ( I dunno if they still do it post covid) odeon doing like a 10/11am cheap screening aimed at OAPs and you get a tea and biscuit included.

Yuck. Eating in the cinema is always a disgusting habit, and should be banned completely, but eating smelly food is completely unforgivable.

How is eating in the cinema a disgusting habit?! How do you cope in restaurants?!

BusySittingDown · 28/04/2023 20:30

I'm surprised that so many people are against eating in the cinema! I thought it was the law to have snacks in the cinema!

MN is full of weirdos.

Panda89 · 28/04/2023 20:33

We sometimes go to the 'posh' cinema in Bath where you sit on a sofa and get served full meals by waiters just before the film starts!

RichardHeed · 28/04/2023 20:35

I’m with you. The cheese sauce should be sold by the barrel in every supermarket.

If you want to eat noisy and smelly food while watching a film....do it at home.
Nah, you have the problem, you stay home. The cinema sells nachos to be eaten there, if you don’t like it don’t go, pretty simple.

mysparkleismissing · 28/04/2023 20:36

I'm all about the ice cream!

steff13 · 28/04/2023 20:41

I've gotta go with popcorn, extra butter, at the movie theater. The ballpark is the place for nachos - chips, queso, shredded chicken, salsa, lettuce, sour cream, and jalapeños. Served in plastic batting helmet.

timeaftertimeiwillfindyou · 28/04/2023 20:45

I've had odeon cheese nachos deliverood to me more than once.
