To think ‘rose quartz’ does not describe a lingerie shade

i get that “nude” was not inclusive. Totally. But a bra is just light beige. Rose quartz isn’t even a colour!

id change them to better names. What was nude for white people is mid beige? Or just numbers?

any better ideas?

It makes the particular shade/tone/intensity of pink perfectly clear to me? I'm certainly not mid beige, so it would be a colour that would work well for me, whilst your description sounds as though it would be very obvious against my skin.

Aerosarethebest · 11/04/2023 13:28

Come on, this one is obvious. ‘Mid beige’ or ´beige 002’ doesn’t sound sexy. And sexy sells lingerie. Shades of coffee/sugar work quite well as descriptors for various nude coloured clothing/underwear. Latte, café au lait, cappuccino, dolce de leche, mochaccino, machiato, espresso etc. But crystals could absolutely work.

Nimbostratus100 · 11/04/2023 13:29

rose quartz in very clearly a colour/ small range of colour in my mind- but it isn't beige!

Pestispeeved · 11/04/2023 13:30

M&S have named their lingerie skinish tones after semi precious stones.
Opaline
Rose quartz
Rich Amber
Topaz
Rich quartz
What is the problem? The colours are reasonable descriptive.
Would you prefer Anaemic Celt...

TyGoch · 11/04/2023 13:32

Rose Quartz is definitely 'pink' in my head. Maybe even a slightly iridescent pink. Not 'Untannable Celtic Nude'.

TyGoch · 11/04/2023 13:32

Whereas I can actually identify with Cappuccino, on account of the freckles.

It's the nearest to my UCN that they can get without selling milky translucent plastic with deoxygenated blood threads running through it, speckled with freckles and the occasional spider nevus embroidered with 17 French Knot haemangiomas.

Rose quartz is pale pink. It's only reasonably descriptive if the tights are pale pink 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤔

They could have channelled Aldi and copied the Farrow and Ball names for paint shades but made them just different enough to not be directly copied.

Nina's Thrush anyone?

Theos · 11/04/2023 13:39

It’s not a “problem” 😀

unless you’re acquainted with crystals ?..

Ok. My bra ain’t pink. It’s a very over milked cup of tea. 🤔

People like over milked tea underwear. Slightly dirty looking pinky beige would show through clothes far less but most people like neutral beige. Except in crystals, what beige crystal can you think of as a better name.

I see it as pale pink. Celtic nude however should be a shade of blue

Pestispeeved · 11/04/2023 13:53

Maybe potassium feldspar would be a more appropriate but less sexy name.

Amantissima · 11/04/2023 13:56

I'm not sure what your issue is. It's not that much of a stretch to grasp that a 'rose quartz' coloured bra indicates a pink that is palish and gentle, not shocking pink or magenta or coral?

Callixte · 11/04/2023 14:00

Pantone have a rose quartz, which is quite pink:

Aldi sells paint? (misses point of thread)

Whataretheodds · 11/04/2023 14:02

Tells me exactly what colour it is.
Suspect 'Amazon box' or 'Avanati trains Tea' wouldn't be any more appealing

Ponderingwindow · 11/04/2023 14:03

I have a chunk of rose quartz sitting by bath and it is remarkably close to my flesh color. Seems like a perfect description for my shade of nude bra

Pestispeeved · 11/04/2023 14:03

A direct comparison, the t-shirt bra loses.

Except it doesn't, because op's bra is light beige, not pale pink.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 11/04/2023 14:04

It doesn't even sound comfortable! A rose quartz bra would definitely chafe.

I am and understood immediately which colour it was. Although I suspect most people know that it's a pink colour and not a beige. I always bought light pink underwear for under whites because it's prettier than beige.

What I don't understand is why people wear white under white. That stands out so much.

CantFindTheBeat · 11/04/2023 14:07

If your bra is the one attached by a pp, and was sold to you as a 'rose quartz' colour, then the designers have got it wrong.

That bra is definitely Milky Latte, for sure.
