To think ‘rose quartz’ does not describe a lingerie shade

i get that “nude” was not inclusive. Totally. But a bra is just light beige. Rose quartz isn’t even a colour!

id change them to better names. What was nude for white people is mid beige? Or just numbers?

any better ideas?

Rich Amber seems to be the colour formerly known as American Tan, so fair amount of poetic licence there.

Incidentally I’m in a Berlin department store at the minute, and their “Londra” nude tights are a kind of ashy grey colour, like somebody pale and British who’s been out in exhaust fumes all day and got their tights dirty. Appropriate.

I have a chunk of rose quartz sitting by bath and it is remarkably close to my flesh color. Seems like a perfect description for my shade of nude bra

Really? That’s interesting

I'm not sure what your issue is. It's not that much of a stretch to grasp that a 'rose quartz' coloured bra indicates a pink that is palish and gentle, not shocking pink or magenta or coral?

Sigh. I haven’t got an issue. It’s a silly meandering thread on a wet Tuesday. 😤

M&S have named their lingerie skinish tones after semi precious stones.
Opaline
Rose quartz
Rich Amber
Topaz
Rich quartz
What is the problem? The colours are reasonable descriptive.
Would you prefer Anaemic Celt...

Is Topaz supposed to be a skin tone? Isn't Topaz blue?

Topaz comes in a huge number of colours.

ShippingNews · 11/04/2023 15:30

Rose quartz sounds wonderful - a sparkly pink. I'd buy it !

The only topaz I know is a dark yellow.

Being of the anaemic pale Celtic type it definitely wouldn't sell it to me😆😁

Rose quartz etc has made me go and look!

I'm less exotic stones and crystals and leaning more towards luncheon meat. I'll do a quick search on M&S for my luxury corned beef tights...

I'm now seeing an underwear range called 'Luncheon Meat', 'Corned Beef', 'Hint of Turkey Roll', 'Eau de Beef Jerky'. 'Feel HOT in your Salami pants, laydeez!'

Muchtoomuchtodo · 11/04/2023 15:45

I’m was a bit flummoxed last time I bought tights in M&S and had to look at the sample to figure out what I wanted.

I was pleasantly relieved to find that the rise quartz wasn’t pink!

Countmeout · 11/04/2023 15:55

Well I have just bought - not seen in flesh as I haven’t collected my order yet - Rich Amber. Quite put off by the American tan description now.

I have what might be opaline but was put off this time by it and rose quartz being what we call hearing aid beige one this house.

Im hoping Rich amber might be a bit lighter then Topaz which I also have to enable me to wear it under lighter coloured tops. None of them match my skin colour. They were just the most attractive when buying a bra. I have not forgiven them for stopping doing the same style of bra in orange which was the best bra I’ve had in recent years but sadly has died as I wore it so much. It was surprisingly versatile.

Sandysandwich · 11/04/2023 16:00

Its a nice enough name for a bra. Tbf if I was looking for a specific skin toned shade I would base it on the picture rather than the colour name.
Most fully accurate descriptor names would probably not be sexy enough to sell lingerie. I wouldn't want to buy knickers in 'light ham' or 'raw cumberland sausage'

LadyEloise1 · 11/04/2023 16:43

I have an M@S bra in Rose Quartz.
It definitely isn't pink.
It's more of a coffee shade - not black coffee - black coffee with milk added, or a strong tea with milk shade iykwim

LadyEloise1 · 11/04/2023 16:45

@ShippingNews There is a stone called Blue topaz, not unlike an aquamarine.

Hint of turkey roll...you know me so well. I'm in!

I see it as pale pink. Celtic nude however should be a shade of blue

😂

Augend23 · 11/04/2023 21:52

Rose quartz, as far as I can see has replaced "natural tan" in hoisery and is in no way shape or form the colour of rose quartz.

It's just really good that M&S is making an effort to sell more than 1 colour shade of nude IMHO. I like the names.

JimmyDurham · 11/04/2023 22:27

I don't know about rose quartz but no way does "Elephant Breath" describe a paint colour.

Theos · 11/04/2023 23:13

Lol. That’s more accurate! 😂
