For example, I had a few pounds spare in the food budget this week, so I sprung for the £1.20 lasagne sheets as opposed to the 90p ones. I know things are tough but what little things do you buy yourself to cheer you up a bit?

Orzo, Ben's Cookies, tesco finest king prawns which I just snack on, camembert, sushi. Makes me hungry thinking about it 😅🤩

Could you taste any difference?

If I wasn't on a diet I'd buy a spinach and cheese pastie off the lidl bakery, or one of thier pizzas.

Seeing as I am, I'd buy a dip like coleslaw or alioli, which is something I don't normally buy because its too expensive for what it is.

Salted butter, Tim's Greek yogurt ( instead of own brand ) , Ben and Jerry's ice cream.
Also jars of sun dried tomatoes, chorizo and parmesan.
Sometimes a small amount of something nicer is worth 10+ a larger amount of a mediocre food stuff .

I love a new pencil case, maybe some mini highlighters or colored post-its. I convince myself these will make me more productive. I'm also quite partial to socks.

Summer2424 · 27/03/2023 17:05

Blueberries and strawberries, i was pregnant over summer and i'd sit in my car and just eat away 😂

MeanderingGently · 27/03/2023 17:08

A bag of crisps. I'm on a seriously low salt diet for health reasons, but I crave crisps. I have to eat them one or two crisps a day because of the salt!!

Also double cream is a treat. And drinking chocolate in winter, ice cream in the summer.

Yarn, patterns, fabric, books, in no particular order

Laiste · 27/03/2023 17:16

Cosmeticy stuff.

Usually stuff which has been running so low that i'm cutting tubes in half to get to the corners and poking earbuds down into bottles for the last dregs. Then I think fuck it - treat yourself and just bloody order a new one!
😂

Ponoka7 · 27/03/2023 17:16

Similar to yours. I buy the £2.40 quiche instead of the £1.79 one. I get the Lincolnshire or Cumberland sausages and not the plain ones, they're about 70p more.

Oopswediditagain2023 · 27/03/2023 17:16

I get a degusta box delivered each month.
Its full of random shit, usually jars of cooking sauce, chocolate, cereal, cider, any random foods.
It's pretty fun seeing what turns up each month.

Every now and then I go into a bookstore and treat myself to a book, and then go to a coffee shop to indulge in a flat white and a bit of a read!i've only been able to do this since September as dc, are now old enough to wonder around town or stay at home alone.... it's total bliss!
