I want juice without sweeteners!!

I just want a nice flavoured squash - I used to love ribena, but it is grim now

So many have sweeteners - can anyone recommend an orange and mango - with no sweeteners (or at least point me in the direction of a nice one?!)

I am sick of not being able to have my favourite soft drinks any more. I'm another who can taste the sweeteners and I'm far from convinced they are safe.

Waitrose seem to be stocking a few more non sugar canned drinks. I noticed last week that they have added Dalstons to the shelf with Cawston Press. The downside is that they are expensive. The cherry flavour is the closest I've found to old style Vimto.

I buy Bottle Green for squashes.

Still looking for a fresh cranberry juice though. Ocean Spray now have sweeteners across their entire range.

Bingbangbongbash · 11/02/2023 23:43

vimto - not the ‘no added sugar’ one, has to be original. Much nicer than ribena.

Why? Sweeteners are perfectly safe and healthy. Bloody hell. Dramatics.

So it's dramatic to not want something you don't like the taste of?

If anyone is being dramatic here it's you

A lot of people think sweeteners taste like shit and give a nasty aftertaste, if you like them then have at it but it's certainly not abnormal to ask for alternatives to a flavour you find unpleasant

bruffin · 11/02/2023 23:47

@Elphame
Britvic and Biona do natural cranberry juice without sweeteners. On Ocado M&S juice drink doesnt have sweetener, but their juice does have stevia!

kagerou · 11/02/2023 23:48

A lot of fruit or flavoured teas have them in now when they're not even replacing sugar - just why??? Makes them undrinkable (and stevia tastes just as bad)

Grizzledstrawberry · 11/02/2023 23:54

Its so annoying isn't it, I won't drink, or let my kids have aspartame or similar nasty sweetneers. We do like the M&S stevia sweetened juice and lemonade though.

I haven't tried it myself but there's a brand called Rocks that is made with good old fashioned sugar, I'm sure asda have a couple made with sugar too.

Vimto is grim. :) that said so in the new Ribena. ..

Perhaps I need a time machine :)

I used to love Ribena spark - but the new one has sweeteners and a tang blurgh

Lots of ideas on this thread - thanks

Thank you - will take a look next time I'm in M&S

Bloody Stevia - the natural form is implicated in causing cancer but the highly refined food additive is considered to be "safe".

Sorry but Vimto has sweetners alongside the sugar:

M&S do a squash with non artificial sweeteners which is really nice
Rocks squash if you can find it

Delorestormborn · 12/02/2023 03:17

Waitrose do loads.
Pink grapefruit is delicious.

Well now clearly YABVU.

It’s delicious and ‘bina is the devil’s drink.

Bingbangbongbash · 12/02/2023 08:34

I’m pretty sharp on tasting sweeteners - I can’t drink any diet drinks or most other squashes - and the ones in Vimto don’t register to me. But I’m going to try a PP suggestion to find the Middle Eastern version if I can.

DaveyJonesLocker · 12/02/2023 08:42

Asda do this, theres a couple that specifically say "sugar not sweetener"

I want juice without sweeteners!!
Alwaystired99 · 12/02/2023 08:51

Sainsbury's do a High Juice that's sweetener free. Its obviously more expensive than the disgusting version and the blackcurrant one is almost like old Ribena. I'm ashamed/ proud to say that when I got my Nectar stats for last year I was the top buyer of one of their High Juices! Artificial sweeteners taste awful to me, even sodding Stevia, just give me the sugar, I'm an adult!

Camdenish · 12/02/2023 16:05

The uk Vimto has sweeteners, the one in the glass Arabic bottle doesn’t.

OneTC · 12/02/2023 16:09

bruffin · 11/02/2023 21:06

Are you sure it doesnt have stevia in it, all the other M&S squash have stevia in, they lie saying it is not an artificial sweetener but it stevia, is basically artificial.

Well it's no less artificial than plenty of other artificial sweeteners which aren't very artificial.

Great marketing ploy though

MudLady · 12/02/2023 16:20

I can only tolerate stevia as all other artificial sweeteners give me migraines. Unfortunately I think stevia tastes vile, bitter in a really chemical way. I mostly drink Rocks when I want something cold & sweet. There used to be a brand called Fitzpatricks that did some natural sugar squashes but IDK if they've changed their recipe too, it's been a while.

Camdenish · 12/02/2023 16:24

I don’t drink sugary drinks very often, but when I do I want an actual sugary drink. I’m prepared to pay the sugar tax if necessary, but I need the drink to be readily available and clearly labelled.

FamilyLife2point4 · 12/02/2023 16:28

I find most supermarkets high-juice (green top) have no sweeteners (actively advertise this on label - contains 50%fruit). Disappointed as Tesco green top now has sweeteners too - no warning they’d changed recipe. Blue top always full of the chemical shitstorm - advertises as ‘no sugar’ like that is a good thing - bizzare!

Seainasive · 12/02/2023 16:30

IKEA ones are still good! No sweeteners at all. The blueberry one is nice, almost like Ribena used to be. And they do a lingonberry and a an elderflower one which is great with fizzy water.

OneTC · 12/02/2023 16:36

It's not squash but canned Rio tropical is still without sweeteners.

San Pellegrino also relaunched all their original flavours and didn't tell anyone so no one stocks it. Ask your local convenience to stock it.

Also irn bru 1901

IntheSnowySnowyMountains · 12/02/2023 18:00

Agree with @Heronwatcher and @bestbefore who recommended Teisseire. I don't think they do mango but the passion fruit one is really good. Multi fruits and peach are also nice. The pink grapefruit is lovely for those who have gone off the Waitrose version (I mix it with the lemon one to make it a bit sharper). Not sure which flavours you can get in the U.K..

San Pellegrino also do Essenza which has flavoured sparkling water with no calories and no sweeteners at all
