I always like the idea of having lots of interesting hobbies, but have the usual time/ money constraints. Inspire me with your interesting hobbies ?

I would love to try mudlarking as well. I don't really count it as a hobby, but I love visiting the beach and looking for fossils and interesting pebbles, shells etc, or looking for feathers in the woods, so I like finding things and mudlarking seems the ultimate in finding things!

Also need to add photography to my list.

If you enjoy the hunt so to speak, then you must try geocaching!!

Want2beme · 11/02/2023 21:57

I haven't one hobby. I've tried so many things, thinking that having a hobby is good for you. I'm so envious of people who have hobbies that they love. I just can't find one that I enjoy🤷‍♀️

I wish I was artistic, as I'd love to be able to sketch, paint, etc. I'm so bad at art that my art teacher at school, told me not to bother taking O'LevelGrin

Shunkleisshiny · 11/02/2023 22:01

Walking, Pilates, gardening, reading and ballroom dancing.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 11/02/2023 22:05

When I’m not working I watch and and crochet.

I love crochet, it relaxes and me and I find it very mindful. I normally make blankets, mostly give them away. I also buy a lot of yarn but that’s a compulsion rather than a hobby!

No other hobbies really, very boring but contented life.

Thepollonator · 11/02/2023 22:11

I enjoy machine knitting and all things craft. I have my own craft room in my bungalow which allows me to also give my husband some 'him' time as I don't go out much on my own. I'm never bored and always busy making something.

I collect fossils, and enjoy watching old war films.

This gave me a little shot of happiness!

Volunteering - I both manage/chair some charities and volunteer time with others.

watercolour. Basically reading pictures and painting things or following YouTube tutorials. occasional group lessons.

podcasting. Use anchor a feee app managed linked with Spotify.

walking and taking random pics of little things that catch my eye (stones/moss/lichen/buds whatever) and every other month I order some of them to be printed and display them in a clip frame.

exploring via foot/car or public transport with a little picnic packed to save pennies.

decorating and diy. Upcycling. Sewing. Crochet. Embellishing clothes with little bits of extra snazzy details.

trying taster session craft workshops - glass cutting etc when available.

Great thread! I'm fascinated by other people's hobbies and what interests them.

I work full-time in shift work, without a regular pattern so, unfortunately, I can't commit to any clubs locally.

I spend much of my spare time reading and cooking, but probably wouldn't count those as hobbies as such.

I enjoy doing jigsaws, as I can dip in and out as time allows. Also, I've got a small-ish back garden, and I enjoy planting colourful container pots. I love sitting outside on summer evenings, so I enjoy creating a nice spot with chairs, throws, and lighting.

I'd love to explore a new hobby, so watching this with interest.

Timeandtune · 11/02/2023 22:16

Ooh- I do Park Run and try to do 5k two or three times a week; I am a helper at Brownies and DH and I enjoy going to chamber music concerts and to the theatre.

chronictonic · 11/02/2023 22:17

Cooking, dog training, school PTA stuff which I swear I don't have time for but seem to fall back into over and over again..!

BrilliantUsername · 11/02/2023 22:18

Walking along the beach
Walking along the cliffs
Walking along the moors
Walking along the countryside
Walking around the shops
Going for a walk
I like walking.

Saracen · 11/02/2023 22:34

I play chess, which would appeal to someone who likes logic and is a bit competitive.

It's dead cheap and there are different ways to play which can fit in with your other commitments. Most fun IMO is playing "over the board" (IRL), either casually in a club or seriously in an evening league or a weekend tournament.

You can also play online, either fast or slow games. Sometimes I like online games where you can take a long time to think about each move, typically three days - so the whole game can last weeks or months.

There are many good cheap instructional videos online or you can buy books to help you improve.

Panda89 · 11/02/2023 22:37

I play pool, we have a pool table at home and also I play pub league and county level.
I dabble in golf with DH also.
Then I also read a lot of books, and game on the pc. Oh and we play D&D (dungeons and dragons) every week with a group! I'm a bit of a nerd 😂

RedRosie · 11/02/2023 22:41

I read a lot. I'm learning a language. And I'm learning the piano. Nothing exciting.

minimadgirl · 11/02/2023 22:41

My classic cars. Love going to my local classic car meet or displaying my 70s caravan at local shows.
And 1940s reenactment.
The reenactment is great, my kids get involved and adore it.

OvertiredandConfused · 11/02/2023 22:52

@Thedogscollar

Yeah. I think of it as subverting societal norms through the medium of burlesque dance, but yes it's pretty much Cabaret style dance

Without any audience, natch.

Fully engaging, it's impossible to think about anything else (housework incomplete, work issues) while we are dancing. I recommend it, try google chair burlesque UK

Hi. Thanks I will. I'm 60 but age is but a number. It sounds like great fun.

tinx · 11/02/2023 22:59

weight training
yoga
Soap making
embroidery
crochet
reading

not necessarily in that order ❤️

wickerhearth · 11/02/2023 23:05

I like to flip furniture ie distressed it and then sell it on the fb, sometimes it does sometimes not and I keep it.

I'm very crafty, often see the potential of the stuff but probably doesn't have enough time to make s living thing for myself.

Sparklesockz · 11/02/2023 23:10

My (secret) hobby is making edits for YouTube of actors I like or tv series. I don’t go by my real name and get really positive comments. Just new to it though. I’m a middle aged mum of 3 and my teens would be mortified 😂. Also run a fan page which is a good way of interacting with like minded people. Back in the day I enjoyed running but health issues put a stop to that.

VestaTilley · 11/02/2023 23:25

Learning piano (slowly), gardening, baking; for DH it’s choir. I occasionally cross stitch, sew or knit (badly). That’s about it. I’d love to do an art class, but I think working, having a child and trying to learn piano is more than enough for now.

I also spend an unhealthy amount of time tweeting feminist things 😂

VestaTilley · 11/02/2023 23:27

Also go to church, but wasn’t sure if that’s classed as a hobby!

RomeoOscarXrayIndigoEcho · 11/02/2023 23:49

Roller skating, cycling, sewing, reading, science fiction especially Star Trek, going to the gym for a swim, sauna, steam and spa bath. Yes that last thing is a hobby! I do it to relax.

Crispynoodle · 11/02/2023 23:55

Sea swimming
Pool swimming
Beach walking
Patchwork and quilting

WeAreAllLionesses · 11/02/2023 23:56

I'm doing a degree with the Open University - it's so interesting. Am halfway through and already looking at what I can do next!
