I always like the idea of having lots of interesting hobbies, but have the usual time/ money constraints. Inspire me with your interesting hobbies ?

I love to make crochet toys and clothes to give away.

skippy67 · 11/02/2023 17:33

Playing netball. I play 3 times a week.
Watching football.

mamaduckbone · 11/02/2023 17:35

Samba drumming, reading and have just started running again. A bit of gardening.

I'd love to have time for more, but work full time so that's as much as I can manage.

Watching 2xdc play rugby isn't a hobby as such, but seems to take up most of my weekends.

I don't really have time atm, but jewellery making, reading, writing, tarot, felting (wet & needle). I like fountain pens and ink, so also have a collection of notebooks, I like bullet journals atm because of the flexibility they give. I do a bit of origami sometimes.

I've been studying a particular tarot deck for a number of years now, and I'm trying to keep that up at least a little - currently looking into William Blake and Jung, and also have books on Catalhoyuk, prehistoric Malta and local ancient woods to read.

I may have missed something.

ILiveInTornadoAlley · 11/02/2023 17:36

I drive a muscle car so I love driving.
And I love taking it to car shows.

I did forget something - gaming, video and board.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 11/02/2023 17:45

I am doing an astrology course at the moment which is very interesting. Also just starting out with a tarot deck and exploring paganism

BeyondMyWits · 11/02/2023 17:53

Sitting on my arse infinite scrolling....

Though sometimes I do beadwork too, or jigsaw puzzles, or reading... (Anything whilst sitting really...)

GetTheBehind · 11/02/2023 17:58

I used to have a bullet journal which I illustrated. I really enjoyed that and came across it today while doing a clear out and (blowing my own trumpet) I really liked the way it came out.

I used to do quite a lot of sketching (people's faces mainly) as well, which I loved and was very engrossing. I couldn't put it down. I love faces and bodies and would love to do maybe a life drawing class.

I also used to do lots of yoga but a lack time and the money meant I had to stop.

Now I just walk and read.

I’m in the WI and go to knitting/crochet group and book group via them,
along with attending some of their more interesting talks and campaign groups. It’s a nice mix of women aged 25-80 - I’m 40.

I have an allotment.
Dog walking.
Gym.
Comedy improv sessions.

I used to play tennis a lot and would like to get fit enough to get back into it.

How did you get into that? Do you need lots of space & equipment?

I went on a one day taster session and decided that I really enjoyed it. Equipment wise you need a forge (gas or solid fuel is usual), hammer(s), tongs and an anvil of some kind.

I keep the heavy kit in a tiled lean to I built next to the deck (about 6 by 4 feet) and drag it out when I want to play. The hand tools are keep in a couple of bags in the workshop. The attached photo should show how I set it up for a day's heat and beat with DD & one of her friends
