Anyone win big on People's Postcode Lottery?

Just as the title says. Has anyone won big on The People's Postcode Lottery? I've been in it for years and only won a few £10 prizes. The last one was May '21. If I don't win one soon I'm stopping as I'd rather treat myself to a takeaway once a month! Winner winner chicken dinner.

My parents won £1,000 - so I started playing then too! Only has a few £10 wins myself, but more on that than the main lottery!

Sounds a bit of a scam to me. Who chooses the postcode. I wouldn't take part., who gets the profits. Not keen. Dont know anybody who has won a penny on it.,

It supports charities. The postcodes are random, presumably computer generated. It's in no way a scam.

My next door neighbours sister won around £200,000.

Always4Brenner · 07/02/2023 16:40

I’ve won a thousand. Would love another win that size.

Greydogs123 · 07/02/2023 16:41

Someone in my village won tens of thousands, I think they were the only person in the postcode, so won the lot!

torquewench · 07/02/2023 16:44

I know 2 people who won 160k. They both live on the same road.

ShyMaryEllen · 07/02/2023 16:46

Choosing the postcode is a good idea. I used to be in it, but some busybody started posting on the local FB page if anyone won even a tenner, so I stopped.

LeilaGetTheHose · 07/02/2023 16:46

My uncle won a few thousand on it last year, we never have though.

Purplemist · 07/02/2023 16:57

I’ve only won a few £10 prizes and a couple of times I got to choose books from a list that was sent to me.

GnomeDePlume · 07/02/2023 16:59

I won £1400 not long before Christmas and £10 a few weeks ago.

I found out about the £1400 because I got an envelope in the post containing a big card with the amount printed on it. The same sort of card which they show in the adverts.

Still makes me smile.

I remember there was a Channel 4 documentary about these Postcode Lottery winners:

www.radiotimes.com/tv/documentaries/the-scottish-island-that-won-the-lottery-islanders/

canthurryup · 07/02/2023 17:03

I haven't but a street about a mile away did a few years ago, one household won over £250,000, I think they had a few tickets. Others won a lot but not that amount.

I'm in it but only ever won a tenner here and there, oh and I won a book once.

PPLWinner · 07/02/2023 17:05

I won £3747 back in 2010. I had 1 ticket (gutted that I had not long cancelled my 2nd ticket, but hey ho).

At that time, we got a phone call to say we won and an invitation to attend a celebration event in the town.

If you presented yourself to the organisers, you got a big cheque like you see on the TV. The main winners didn't know they had won but had been ushered to the side of the stage and they did a big reveal of the main winning postcode. I believe the family had 2 tickets and went home with approx £800K.

I don't think they do that now though.

NeonBoomerang · 07/02/2023 17:05

My friend won thirty grand

Notateacheranymore · 07/02/2023 17:06

Been on it since August I think - couple of £10 wins is all.

smileladiesplease · 07/02/2023 17:07

We won a golden grand in lock down. Was a lovely uplift

Holzy91 · 07/02/2023 17:10

I won £1k about 3 years ago. Still play and won a couple of £10s since.

figured the £1k is paying for the months I’ve kept playing haha

I won £1000, it’s mad that they don’t send you an email when you win a decent amount isn’t it, just an A4 gold envelope, that I nearly just chucked in the bin without opening, as I thought it was junk mail.

redundantsoon · 07/02/2023 17:21

I might be tempted now reading this - see user name! I wouldn’t want to appear in any adverts though 😂

OldTinHat · 07/02/2023 17:25

I did it at my last address 5yrs ago and won 3 x £50 in the six months I played.

I moved to where I am now but won't play again because my neighbour won £34k on it just before I arrived and I reckon the odds of this postcode winning again is very remote! And she absolutely did win because she has the cardboard cheque on display in her lounge - yes, they do that! She spent it on a new kitchen and shared the rest with her family.

Foodieasfuck · 07/02/2023 17:30

One of my relatives won £4.5k last year along with a couple of other neighbours.. 4 houses on the next street win £200k each…

doubtfulguest · 07/02/2023 17:31

A friend won 60,000 with 2 tickets a year ago

MissCalamity · 07/02/2023 17:33

We've won a couple of £10's and a gift just before Christmas (we got 2 glasses)
My work colleague won £30k, jammy sod, she was just in the process of moving as well!

Oldraver · 07/02/2023 17:34

My folks win £40,000, as did others in their block of 12 apartments one had a double ticket

They opted for no publicity but the local paper published their postcode had won

There is always a bit of tension from the other block in the complex and this has not helped

GG1986 · 07/02/2023 17:49

My parents won £1000 and my cousin won £14,000.
