To cancel Tate membership over drag queen story time

I have a Tate membership and have thoroughly enjoyed using it so far, but today I noticed that they have a ‘drag queen story time’ event for children.

Not only do I not agree with children being exposed to any aspect of adult entertainment, but according to a twitter thread the drag queen in question - Aida H. Dee - has openly stated that they were friends with another drag queen who was convicted of raping a child, and has stated that he wears the rapists jewellery to these children’s events - I’m horrified. The Tate have apparently stood by their choice to have this individual doing the story time.

So cancel it. I really don't understand why it's such a big deal. If you don't approve of any companies vision then you don't support it. I won't visit a wetgerspoons because of the brexit propaganda.

On one of the Feminism threads there’s a link to a drag queen talking about this very issue - he finds it baffling that this form of adult entertainment (no different to stripping or blue comedy) is now being proactively pushed at little children in the name of ‘gender inclusivity’. Fucking barking, the whole thing, before you even get to the question of the individual involved.

It is disgraceful that men in drag is being normalised as a children's event, even worse with the connotations of child rape that I wasn't previously aware of.

How any parent can think this is appropriate entertainment for a child is beyond me.

Just highlighting this bit for anyone who doesn't think this is a problem. This is a drag queen reading to children and is making it clear that they are not absolutely disgusted
by child rape.

Thanks for letting us know and I’m so disapponted with Tate, one of my favourite places in London

I didn’t renew my membership when it expired at the beggining of the pandemic but I have applied to lots of jobs there and always sad when not shortlisted but now I see I was lucky to not get in. The pay is shit anyway, worse than anywhere else but I would overlook this to work for them.

What a shame

These sort of places won’t use common sense but as they say money talks. They might reconsider if lots of people do the same.
