Yes. All the way through I’m afraid. I eventually got some tablets which were a godsend.

its so unpleasant. I feel for you xxx

Imthegingerbreadwoman · 01/02/2023 22:31

Oh yes it was so bad I thought I was having a heart attack. An ambulance was called

Manorbier · 01/02/2023 22:33

Thank you - it's just awful !! Had it in first pregnancy as well - I'd forgotten how bad it was!

Yes it's horrendous! I really feel for you 😢 Currently 22 weeks with my second and I've started taking omaprozol, it's absolutely life changing!

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 01/02/2023 22:33

Yes. I’d never had indigestion or heartburn before I was pregnant - woke up with it in the middle of the night thinking I might be dying!

Go to the doctor and they can prescribe you Gaviscon, tablets or liquid. I used to have two or three tablets on the go alllll the time it sometimes got that bad. It’s fine to take as many as needed.

melisma · 01/02/2023 22:33

Yes, with all 3 DC I'm afraid. I had those little triangular packs of gaviscon tablets tucked away everywhere - in my handbag, drawer at work, bedside table, side pocket of the car! Good luck.

These!! I had these tablets and my word what a difference.

Humptydumptyfellapart · 01/02/2023 22:35

Yep. Never had it before in my adult life. Thought I was dying one night and called my DH in a panic. Told him my symptoms. He told me to take some gaviscon, I thought he was mad, turns out it was the one and only time he's ever been right about anything. Absolutely horrific and I feel your pain OP. 🥺

Manorbier · 01/02/2023 22:35

Thanks for all your responses - didn't take any medication in my last pregnancy- just tried to power through it! Thanks for that tip - I'll see if milk helps

Dacadactyl · 01/02/2023 22:36

Yes, both times, but particularly when pregnant with DD.

Gaviscon sorted it out though but it was quite uncomfortable. Never had it before or since being pregnant though.

custardbear · 01/02/2023 22:36

I've always felt milk and gaviacon works well with normal GERD issues but I remember a pregnancy thing that green apples work ... never tried myself but just sharing 😉

Manorbier · 01/02/2023 22:36

Thanks all - sorry to hear that some of you have had it to such extremes

CoodleMoodle · 01/02/2023 22:38

Yes, first pregnancy it was awful and as I'd never had it before I had no idea what was happening. I drank Gaviscon from the bottle (midwife approved) and ended up on ranitidine towards the end.

Second pregnancy it started really early (before 18wks I think) and at first the GP didn't want to give me anything as "there's no way it could be that bad yet". I told him that I'd woken up three nights in a row, gasping for breath because my throat was burning so much. He gave me omprazole, and I had to take it until I gave birth.

The meds did help but didn't get rid of it entirely, and I still get bouts of it now, 9 & 4 years later.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Manorbier · 01/02/2023 22:39

@custardbear - Green apples ! Blimey ! The last thing I feel like eating right now !! Grin

Yes, endless, and with all four pregnancies.
Now I'm an old lady, I get heartburn a lot.

sanityisamyth · 01/02/2023 22:41

Yep. It was my only pregnancy symptom really. Milkshake (by the gallon!) helped.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 01/02/2023 22:41

God yes, I bought gaviscon in those massive bottles and took great gulps of it.

Icanflyhigh · 01/02/2023 22:42

Yes with all three of mine and it was horrendous. There were some days when I'd literally neck gaviscon like I was doing shots at a party!
I want to say it gets better but here I an 18 years later taking daily omeprazol for excruciating heartburn !

Oopswediditagain2023 · 01/02/2023 22:43

Yes im 37 weeks and it's horrendous! I also had an aversion to milk and indigestion tablets in the first 14 weeks or so that was fun 😂🤮
But now I am never without my rennie.

Geilenk · 01/02/2023 22:44

Awww. This post made me feel quite nostalgic. I used to drink gaviscon from the bottle throughout both my pregnancies and even now the smell makes me feel happy. Probably weird.

Oopswediditagain2023 · 01/02/2023 22:44

Also hot chocolate (made with milk!) helps before bed - I used to be woken up in the night with terrible heartburn but not if I have a warm milky drink as others have said

YouBoggleMyMind · 01/02/2023 22:45

Pink gaviscon and omeprozole if that doesn't work. I drank bottles of pink gaviscon when I was pregnant with DD.

Manorbier · 01/02/2023 22:45

Thanks @sanityisamyth - gonna get on this milkshake thing - not that I need an excuse to drink milkshake!!
