Husband labelling HIS OWN FOOD

MrsWestox · 28/01/2023 18:37

Hi all
Now, am I being old fashioned here? Husband since 2014 has taken to labelling ALL the food he buys with a sharpie pen..which ironically I bought.. expecting no one to touch it. But when it comes to the food I buy..plus literally everything else from loo roll to bin bags to washing powder that I buy..is fair game for him to use or eat as he sees fit. So much for a shared household eh? Sharing is caring..( lol)! Has anyone else experienced this..? Am I being unreasonable to be totally razzed off by this?

What’s the point in him exactly?

Snazzysausage · 28/01/2023 20:15

He labels ALL that he buys. A cabbage, pack of tomatoes..celeriac, garlic..nothing escapes the sharpie treatment.
But why?! What's his explanation for labelling all his stuff but eating and using stuff others have bought. Surely you've had a discussion about it. What was his reaction when you told him to keep his grubby hands off your purchases? Utterly baffled by this!

PizzaNinja · 28/01/2023 20:15

OP I think we need some pictures of the Sharpie-ist’s handiwork, just for a laugh to see the realities of what you’re dealing with 🤔

And erm, get your ducks in a row, and all that, or at the very least start eating some of the be-Sharpied products.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 28/01/2023 20:16

And what keeps you in this marriage exactly? Confused

itsnotmeitisactuallyyou · 28/01/2023 20:16

What a Knob, not normal to do this

I’ve seen some shit on here. Some of it is tragic, some of it is funny and some of it is horrifying.

This is easily the oddest.

I couldn't access OP's fridge, but lurked outside to snap LabelHead if he appeared. He hoved into view with a sniggering chum.

YABU but only for putting up with it for so long.

Imissmybabygirl · 28/01/2023 20:23

My teenage daughter has to label her food because my teenage son keep eating her food she bought!

CallieQ · 28/01/2023 20:24

Of course you should share your food

This!

Do you cook separate meals as well? If he labels a cauliflower does he eat and finish the entire thing himself? This is very strange behaviour

This has to be a joke. I refuse to believe anyone lives like this or has put up with their DH behaving like this for 9 years. Insanity.

Namechangenoidea · 28/01/2023 20:32

I feel we havent heard his side of the story. If you kept eating things that he had put on the shopping list even when he asked you not too I would get it. But if I was him I would just ask you to buy extra when you went shopping in case it went missing

Pinkyandtwerky · 28/01/2023 20:33

I couldn’t live like that. Can you OP?

BillyDeanisnotmylover · 28/01/2023 20:38

Do you snarf everything before he has a chance to enjoy it?
Do you take the hummus and double dip straight from the tub?
Do you eat all three magnums from the box of three?
Do you ‘finish off’ the entire block of cheese because you were worried it was going to go off?
If yes, then I understand.
If not, he’s a bit odd.

MrsWestox · 28/01/2023 19:09

Yes..mostly seperate finances and seperate rooms. Shared utilities and car insurance.

So effectively living in your house but not together? I'd give him his own cupboard tell him as he's not happy to share what he buys it's best he sorts himself out for everything and please don't touch your food etc. So only have stuff he's labelled.
What an idiot.

JaneJeffer · 28/01/2023 20:42

How can you live like this @MrsWestox ?

Soubriquet · 28/01/2023 20:45

But but…why are you putting up with it?

Why do you let him eat your food, if his is off limits?

Just…..why?

JustCleaningtheBBQ · 28/01/2023 20:45

What does he do if you eat any of it?

If he has a packet of digestive biscuits and there were say, 10 left, would he know if you took one? Does he count them?

Have you asked him why he does this?

jannier · 28/01/2023 20:46

Does he do his own cooking, washing etc?
