To take the dog out in my pyjamas?

DH is laughing at me (lightheartedly).

I like to spend my day off in (clean) PJs doing very little. DH usually does the evening walk but DS has changed evening for youth club so we swapped while he took him.

I was planning to have a nice bath in a minute and then get dressed and take the dog out, backwards I know but that’s why I wasn’t dressed. But the dog
was mithering so I put on knee length wellies and a knee length coat and took him out, only a ten minute poo and wee type walk, it’s dark and we avoid people anyway as dog is a bit of a prick.

I came back just as DH pulled up. He thinks it’s hilarious. I think it’s within the bounds of normal, right?

YANBU, go and enjoy your bath and then get back into PJs

YABU you slovenly weirdo, the neighbours will be having conniptions.

Of course. If you were wearing wellies and a long coat who would even notice your PJs anyway?

Well exactly.

DH doesn’t even own pyjamas tbf. He gets up and dressed every morning regardless of what he’s doing and doesn’t understand my love of cosy pjs. I get into mine straight after work. Lenses out, bra off, pjs on. That signifies relaxing for me. Days off with nothing to do get the same treatment.

I'd have no problem doing that, or popping dd somewhere in the car in my PJs and a coat.

percypal · 26/01/2023 18:15

Totally normal!

The only thing I will say is I never believe people who say they were clean pyjamas during the day. I always think it’s last nights. Which is fine. Mine inevitably are if I’m lounging during the day.

DominoRules · 26/01/2023 18:15

I do this frequently, my dog is in a phase of not wanting to go to the toilet in the garden so we take him for a last trip out. I’m in pjs by about 7.30 most nights so I just put a big coat on!

Clean on last night 😉 I didn’t want the onslaught of ‘ew minging’ that my pj habit has elicited on here before.

But not like three day old sweaty crotched rags.

I’m frequently out in pyjamas with a long coat and wellies on taking the pug out for a poo. It’s so dark I doubt anyone even notices anyway!

Mrsjayy · 26/01/2023 18:22

My friends dog wakes early won't pee in the garden she walks it in her pyjamas and long coat, I don't think it's unusual.

DuchessOfSausage · 26/01/2023 18:23

I don't think it's kind to dress animals

It's fine Grin

I used to take mine out on our property in full view of anyone walking by at night (after 9pm) and first thing in the morning (~5am) in my big fluffy pink robe …footwear ranged from snow boots, my husband’s shoes, to whatever was handy.

OP, I'm glad you are seeking advice on this serious issue, & as it's MN obviously you know you need to have your entire moral compass disassembled & probed so PP can tell you how unsatisfactory your behaviour is.

However, concerned for your plight, I have pm'd DDog.

He said some uncomplimentary things about you being in charge of portion control when you last ordered a take out pizza, but says he doesn't mind your pyjamas, & none of his pack think you're weird.

I am a pizza hog to be fair. But he does get the crusts, the ungrateful twat.

If he eats cheese the farts are unimaginably horrific. But he does love that cheese so looks longingly at me while I’m eating it.

I've taken DDog out in pyjamas, a tankini top, bare feet, wellied feet, disgraceful gardening clothes, & a minging Belstaff. Not usually all at once, granted.

Neither he nor any of my neighbours have minded.
We're ... veeeeery rural, & eccentricity is celebrated, as is holding up 2 fingers to the suburban sensibilities squad.

You do you OP 😀

😂Is he called Leonard Hofstadter?

devildeepbluesea · 26/01/2023 18:50

I do it all the time. DDog came from the dogs home in May21 and so far I haven’t been able to get him to pee reliably in the garden. So every evening I take him for a wee wee walk before bed. 80% of the time I’m in my PJs. I have no fucks to give, I’m not staying in my uncomfortable jeans just because the dog needs a pee.

TimeForMeToF1y · 26/01/2023 18:53

I can only assume your DH has led a very sheltered life is he thinks there is anything the slightest bit unusual about what you did

WishingMyLifeAway · 26/01/2023 19:04

The wearing indoor clothes outside police don't appear to have arrived yet......

Yarrawonga · 26/01/2023 19:08

I don’t wear pyjamas outside my bedroom, so you can guess which way I voted.

KimberleyClark · 26/01/2023 19:09

Personally I wouldn’t go outside in PJs as such, I would pull on some joggers and a hoodie. But you do you!
