To take the dog out in my pyjamas?

DH is laughing at me (lightheartedly).

I like to spend my day off in (clean) PJs doing very little. DH usually does the evening walk but DS has changed evening for youth club so we swapped while he took him.

I was planning to have a nice bath in a minute and then get dressed and take the dog out, backwards I know but that’s why I wasn’t dressed. But the dog
was mithering so I put on knee length wellies and a knee length coat and took him out, only a ten minute poo and wee type walk, it’s dark and we avoid people anyway as dog is a bit of a prick.

I came back just as DH pulled up. He thinks it’s hilarious. I think it’s within the bounds of normal, right?

YANBU, go and enjoy your bath and then get back into PJs

YABU you slovenly weirdo, the neighbours will be having conniptions.

I wear nightshirts or gowns, not pajamas, but yeah, I do this all the time. And sometimes with not even a robe or coat. (It's hot here.) YANBU

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 26/01/2023 19:15

I literally thought this Ystd when I took the dog out in my pjs and oodie 😂

RedCarsGoFaster · 26/01/2023 19:25

The neighbours see me every weekend in PJs, dressing gown and wellies, dragging the dogs out for a pee at 8am. Then we all go back to bed.

I couldn't give a fuck. The dogs needing a pee doesn't require me to put a bra on.

devildeepbluesea · 26/01/2023 18:50

I do it all the time. DDog came from the dogs home in May21 and so far I haven’t been able to get him to pee reliably in the garden. So every evening I take him for a wee wee walk before bed. 80% of the time I’m in my PJs. I have no fucks to give, I’m not staying in my uncomfortable jeans just because the dog needs a pee.

If yours is like ours, they see the garden as an extension of the house, so they probably won't use the garden any more than they would your living room.

Riverlee · 26/01/2023 19:28

I would change into joggers or trousers or the lower half, but have been known to put a jumper and coat over pyjama top.

pilates · 26/01/2023 19:29

Yeah that’s fine but I would take the dog out first then have a bath so I can relax 😀

KimberleyClark · 26/01/2023 19:30

When we are looking after DB’s lab he (the lab) will occasionally pee in the garden but wouldn’t dream of pooing there. Oh dear me no.

BadgerHeed · 26/01/2023 19:51

Do your pyjamas actually fit your dog? Won't it trip up over the sleeves?
Were they a nice pair of marks & Spencer tartan ones or Primark Minnie mouse ones?
We need to know these things!

The wearing indoor clothes outside police don't appear to have arrived yet......

Right? I thought this was guaranteed froth 🤣

It's ok as long as they're covered by your coat and boots.

I have to say though, I just love the word conniptions.

EmpressOfTheSofa · 26/01/2023 19:51

Yes, they are normally split into two contingents:

  1. It's morally repugnant to wear clothes designed for the night inside, outside during the day.
  2. It's filthy to wear pyjamas out of doors, you don't then wear them in bed, do you? Disgusting, think of all that "outdoor" bacteria, in your bed of all places!?!

Maybe it's the time of day, they must all be changing from their outdoor clothes to their indoor clothes, and sterilising themselves while they do it, must be a lengthy process....if you factor in the time it must take to do this while remaining morally superior. Exhausting! :-)

XenoBitch · 26/01/2023 20:26

I wear a long skirt over my PJs when I walk the dog.
Dog gets walked, and that is all that matters to me.

The image of you wandering with your dog in a fabulously flowing gown is compelling Seneca. Puts us common or garden pyjama-sporters to shame.

They ought to get their collective finger(s) out.....might lose the moral high ground if they are not careful :-)

BillyBobsFringe · 26/01/2023 20:30

Ha! This came up in our family yesterday- MIL was absolutely scandalised that I'd drag the wheelie bin 15ft out to our drive because someone might see me in my pyjamas.

Presumably it's horribly uncouth or something, seeing me unclothed, and someone might mistake me as a prostitute...in my fleecy asos full length pyjamas with unicorns on them.

She continues to be outraged.

gravyriceandchips · 26/01/2023 20:32

I would t judge I'd just think at least the dogs got a walk if I saw you.

Surely this is what TikTok was invented for Billy?
If you are in possession of an app-savvy teenager you could have a LOT of fun with this ...

whytesnow · 26/01/2023 20:34

I always do this only in the dark tho

LolaSmiles · 26/01/2023 20:38

I wouldn't because I'm a self-confessed member of the pyjamas are house clothes club, but it's unlikely anyone would notice if you're wearing wellies and a long coat.

Ludo19 · 26/01/2023 20:41

In the light mornings I'm out hanging my washing in the garden and letting the cats out for a breather. I don't give a fuck what neighbours think. I also take my wheelie bin out in them too......the scandal.
