To take the dog out in my pyjamas?

DH is laughing at me (lightheartedly).

I like to spend my day off in (clean) PJs doing very little. DH usually does the evening walk but DS has changed evening for youth club so we swapped while he took him.

I was planning to have a nice bath in a minute and then get dressed and take the dog out, backwards I know but that’s why I wasn’t dressed. But the dog
was mithering so I put on knee length wellies and a knee length coat and took him out, only a ten minute poo and wee type walk, it’s dark and we avoid people anyway as dog is a bit of a prick.

I came back just as DH pulled up. He thinks it’s hilarious. I think it’s within the bounds of normal, right?

YANBU, go and enjoy your bath and then get back into PJs

YABU you slovenly weirdo, the neighbours will be having conniptions.

When I had dogs, I would sometimes put a top and yoga pants on over my pyjamas, walk the dogs, come back via the shop, buy the weekend papers, toddle home, remove the outdoor clothes and get straight back to bed in the same pj's I'd been out in.

Well My old house used to back onto a park and I had a gate at the end of my garden to get into it. My new house backs onto a field ….. so I raise you pyjamas a dressing gown a fag and a coffee😁

Many a happy hour spent in pyjamas with dogs & mugs of tea up 'our' back field too @statetrooperstacey

Until my new neighbour moved in, & got the prosecco out ...
I've moved now, still rural, but damn I miss that glorious field, & the generous neighbour farmer who let all of us run our dogs on his land.

I take my dog out for a 40 minute walk in my pjs every evening before bed in a long coat. X

BillyBobsFringe · 26/01/2023 21:33

I don't own a teenager, but I'll ask old man DH if he's willing to download tik tok for the sake of winding up his mum/me playing a fluffy pj'd prostitute 😆

Copperoliverbear · 26/01/2023 21:35

I will tell you a funny story about popping out not appropriately dressed, but cousin was asleep on her day off and her husband came and woke her up and said can you run me to work, I got up late.
She sleeps with no clothes on, just put her coat on and dropped him to work, on her way home her car broke down, 🤣🤣🤣🤣. She had to sit and wait for the AA in just her coat and before the come she had to get someone to help her get it to a place that she wasn't obstructing anyone lol x

AFrivolousDigression · 26/01/2023 21:52

I've sometimes gone out in PJs if I've needed a quick loaf of bread and some milk in a local store before breakfast and didn't want to dress first. One thing I've discovered is that if I put on a long boxy raincoat with clashing trainers, beanie hat and scarf it's like putting on an invisibility cloak.

EatYourVegetables · 26/01/2023 22:04

Completely missing the point here, but I misread the title as “AIBU to take the dog out in my pyjamas”, and was wondering whether the dog had put on your pjs himself or whether the husband had helped him.

EatYourVegetables · 26/01/2023 22:07

DUH that was supposed to say “AIBU AIBU to take the dog out OF my pyjamas“.

Edit button please!!

I would definitely do that in the dark. I wouldn't do it in the summer in the light at 6pm though!

Viviennemary · 26/01/2023 22:11

Some people are horrified by this. Can't see the problem.

dolor · 26/01/2023 22:17

I have done this many times. It's totally reasonable.

Usernamqwerty · 26/01/2023 22:58

When it was boiling hot last year, I put the bins out / rubbish out in canvas trousers and my bra 🤦. Just like a bikini top, right? 🤣

Usernamqwerty · 26/01/2023 22:58

Linen trousers, sorry! Summery ones

Usernamqwerty · 26/01/2023 23:00

I have occasionally been tempted to do the school run in my PJs with a coat chucked on top, but think my Minnie Mouse fleece PJs might be a bit of a giveaway! 😂

StillMedusa · 26/01/2023 23:30

I have a 'won't toilet in the garden' dog...
so yes... many an evening Grin

I often pass other late night dog walkers looking very similar :) (in a 'nice' leafy Cotswold area)

PugInTheHouse · 26/01/2023 23:34

I take the dog out for a half hr walk late at night, i wear pjs, uggs, big coat. At least once a week I see someone else in pj's popping to the shop. I wear loungers/pj's more than normal clothes.
