If you have been on universal credit for at least 6 months you can apply for a budgeting advance. This is different to the advance payment, and can be used for household furniture or appliances, help getting or staying in work, or towards funeral expenses. You pay it back monthly through your universal credit payments.

If you drive an automatic car, when starting to move on a slope put a little pressure on the accelerator before taking off the handbrake so you don't roll back.

There's no 'minimum time since periods have stopped' before you are entitled to medical help for the menopause - if symptoms are having an impact on ou, you should be able to get treatment, even if your periods haven't stopped.

Get eggshell that's fallen into the egg whites out by scooping up with half an eggshell - it adheres to that easily

There's a range of topics for you!

Some people don't know this so:
If you use WhatsApp on your phone, you can also use it on your computer (as long as your phone is on and online). It's easier to type longer messages, attach files sometimes on a computer.

Just go to web.whatsapp.com/ and it will tell you how to link your phone.

Oil based make up remover will melt the glue on plasters as you take them off your whingy child.
Nail varnish remover takes sharpie off most things, including skin.

If you batch cook once a week and make six or eight extra portions for the freezer (stuff like chilli, bolognaise, goulash, stew, curry, shepherd's pie) it means that after a month you only have to cook once or twice a week (other than boiling a bit of pasta or doing some veg or a jacket potato to accompany the batch cooked meal). It's a lifesaver for working parents.

Do you need to buy an extra large pan(s) in order to batch cook?

@Giggorata @Tricyrtis2022 @Feministwoman do you have top skull tips for the oil in marine mammals bones? I have a partial porpoise but burying didn't sort out the grease.

Any uni tips? On how to pick a good uni with uni mates?

Just trying my luck, I think learning about bears ought to be easier :P

BedStuy · 20/01/2023 18:41

Also:

On nearly all dishwashers you can adjust the height of the upper rack (e.g. if you have large dishes that won't fit in the bottom, you can create more room). Just google it.

Was looking forward to lots of interesting tips, things we might not know.

Interesting tip: if you want a fast-moving thread, try starting it on a Wednesday evening when a lot of people are at a loose end, rather than on a Friday morning when they are at work.

If you are applying for attendance allowance, it's better to send off for the paper form rather than applying on line.

Partly because the online form is very poorly set up and an absolute pain to use. But mainly because for the paper form payments are backdated to the date you requested the form, but for the online version they are only backdated to the date you submitted it.

I have two sons. One wears black socks to school and the other wears grey. This will be the case as long as they launder their clothes under my roof.

Have you tried dermestid beetles?

An ice cube (possibly brought a great personal expense from the arctic) will remove the dents in carpet left by heavy skulls furniture.

You don't need to peel potatoes is you put them through a ricer. Chop 'em, cook 'em, rice 'em. The peel gets left behind.

That's a very old fashioned automatic car.

If confronted by an angry primate, crouch down and make yourself as small as possible. Look downwards, never look them in the eye and extend your arm with your palm facing upwards as a submissive gesture.

If you need to clean the bottom of a tall vase or jar, put a tiny splash of water in and add a teaspoon of rice. Gently agitate the item in a side-to-side motion for a minute or so then empty out. The rice acts as an abrasive and will leave the bottom nice and clean.

Ooo I’d never thought of this, I do it with smash furry drinking bottles but didn’t extrapolate out!
thanks

If you have just had a baby, make sure you register for child benefit even if you then chose not to receive the payment. This will mean you get national insurance credits to count towards your state pension. This is especially important if you are not going back to work.

It also means the child will get their NI number automatically without having to apply for it.

Its especially good at getting grease spots out of fabric.

Soda crystals are amazing at cleaning - washing machines, cookers, for example.

Buy 2 of each Christmas stocking. Put out the empty one but pre-pack a full one for a swift and seamless change over on the big night.

Doormatnomore · 20/01/2023 18:52

My worry now is: I’m looking at the inside of a bear, I’m hungry but enjoying the warmth. Which red squishy bit the liver. If I lie the bear out like a person will it be the same place as a humans? Where is that?

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 20/01/2023 18:53

Rub any protein based stain (blood, egg etc) with soap and cold water. If you use hot water, the protein sets, making the stain much more difficult to remove

GargleGargoyle · 20/01/2023 18:53

Buy 'already grey' underwear
