Pringles in the packed lunch

Pennecrayon · 18/01/2023 11:02

This feels like an odd question but I wanted to ask here in case I am missing something. We have a few tubes of Pringles left over from Christmas and I've been putting a few in a Tupperware for DS's packed lunch. He's 7.

Last night, I got a WhatsApp from a parent who I don't know very well to ask me if I would stop putting Pringles in DS's packed lunch because it's making her son jealous. I was a bit taken aback and I didn't respond.

I think I'm entitled to put whatever I want in my DS's lunchbox (within the rules) and that's what I want to tell her. We're new to the school this year though so I don't want to upset anyone and cause dramas.

ypu need to up the anti now and buy some finest balsamic vinegar and sea salt crisps!
or buy the little boy a whole tube and watch and wait after he takes it home to mum " look what * gave me so i can have them in my packed lunch aswell!!"
obviously your not going to do this but her level of batshittery just needs a really firm fuck off.

Twiglets1 · 19/01/2023 18:08

Mmmmm.....pringles.....

Annemm · 19/01/2023 18:10

The mum is certainly wrong to be prescriptive with what you give to your kids, but on the other hand, you probably know that Pringles (and other cheaper chips versions) are extremely palatable (combination of salt, fat and sugar) but have absolutely not nutritional value whatsoever. This kind of food is ultra processed, addictive and plays havoc with our bodies. Perhaps not the best thing to put in your kids lunch pack after all?

CM1897 · 19/01/2023 18:14

Could she have been joking and trying to start a conversation with you?

MrsCooper84 · 19/01/2023 18:15

Apologise and tell her ‘sorry hun but once you pop, you can’t stop” x

BabyDriversMummy · 19/01/2023 18:18

This is too petty to acknowledge.

scarybiscuit · 19/01/2023 18:21

I would buy Pringles on purpose when will these people stop dictating to us….

Tygger · 19/01/2023 18:26

As much as I like Pringkes, and Tyrrels crisps, they're NOT Slimming World approved, so I only eat them at Christmas and on my birthday!

The only people who tell me what to put in My DS9 packed lunch is my DS9 himself within reason I take into consideration what he likes and doesn't. As well as the head who only asks that we avoid nuts due to a serious nut allergy in the school.
I once had a similar message sent home via my DS who said that his friend and friends mam had spoken to him at gate (my DS walks down to carpark due to my mobility and his own independence). I'd made some Keto Brownie bites for myself and some cloud bread and my son and taken a liking to them. So I'd put some in his packed lunch. Turns out his friend was drooling over them and as no allergies present (Teacher checked) DS willing let him try. He then supposingly told him mum he wanted to try Keto because the food was nice not realising it was a diet. Think he assumed it was a style of food as such. DS friend mum told my DS that his mum shouldn't be feeding him Keto stuff at all because it was important he ate Carbs and that he was to tell me to stop putting Keto food in his packed lunch because it wasn't safe for him and she definitely didnt want her son eating them again.
Thankfully my DS knows enough about Keto to point out that he ate Carbs plenty of the time and he just liked mums bread and brownies because they tasted good and tried to explain tha time his mum ate keto due to problems digesting carbs. That he wasn't Keto etc. She still went to head teacher and the only thing that happened was that they stopped kids swapping and sharing packed lunch regardless of whether they had allergies. So now kids are upset because there was a lot of swaps going on prior to this. I however was told that my keto brownies were fab when I later made them for a school fair. They have no issue with me putting them in as long as I don't use Almond or Coconut Flour which I don't because I follow a nut free.recipe.

Buy him one of these containers, they’re even more fancy 😜.

£6.50!!!!! I'm sure you got those things as a free gift. Criminal! 😂

IWishIHadNotDoneIt · 19/01/2023 18:28

Sorry OP you need more pringles. A least a year's worth 🤣

Heyhoitsme · 19/01/2023 18:29

Ask her if she'd like some Pringles to give to her son.

carbuncleonapigsposterior · 19/01/2023 18:29

I haven't read the whole thread the OP was enough to grab my attention, what a ridiculous woman I'd have to invoke my inner John McEnroe and respond with a "you cannot be serious!"

Mexicantortilla · 19/01/2023 18:30

There’s a Fabulous GIF for Pringles 😂

Pearfacebanana · 19/01/2023 18:30

Throw in a few dairyleq dunkers and a dairy milk to really P her off...

Crimeismymiddlename · 19/01/2023 18:32

Unfortunately you now have to purchase multiple packs of Pringles and one of those little boxes to put them in.
Ignore the message.

Loobieloogold · 19/01/2023 18:34

The mind boggles. Imagine being so wound up that it is felt necessary to message another person about what their child has in their lunch? FFS. I get if there are guidelines around that specifically, my boy still takes a packed lunch, going into P7 this year. He has taken in a bag of crisps every day!!! (he refuses to have school lunches before I have haters on at me for no reason).

Incidentally, I just remembered my boy went through a phase of wanting about 4 after eights in his lunch box over a period of time! He though thought it was funny and like a little prank, as his dad (soon to be ex husband thank god) thought it was outrageous for some reason and he was EATING THEM BEFORE 8pm....... Son discovered he liked them at Christmas a few years ago when i tried him with difference cheese and nibbles - he is just like his mum ha ha ha.

Seriously though. I wouldn't even reply to that. She will see that you have received and read - that should get up her nose when you don't respond!

Parentsofaprincess · 19/01/2023 18:35

Tell her to do one. Pack what you want.

Loobieloogold · 19/01/2023 18:36

.........slopes off to find snacks..........

LikeTearsInRain · 19/01/2023 18:41

Batshit and entitled.

Glad you’ve ignored.

Send in some party rings and wotsits next time

BrutusMcDogface · 19/01/2023 18:43

Please, please buy more Pringles!

808Kate1 · 19/01/2023 18:48

I mean I'm not advocating this or anything BUT we used to get sent to school with crisp sandwiches as kids -a 'piece and crisps' it was called and they were all the rage, so as a one-off slap some Pringles in a sandwich tomorrow for your boy and see how she likes that. Her head will explode.

mandlerparr · 19/01/2023 18:48

Start sending other small treats and nice notes.
