Pringles in the packed lunch

This feels like an odd question but I wanted to ask here in case I am missing something. We have a few tubes of Pringles left over from Christmas and I've been putting a few in a Tupperware for DS's packed lunch. He's 7.

Last night, I got a WhatsApp from a parent who I don't know very well to ask me if I would stop putting Pringles in DS's packed lunch because it's making her son jealous. I was a bit taken aback and I didn't respond.

I think I'm entitled to put whatever I want in my DS's lunchbox (within the rules) and that's what I want to tell her. We're new to the school this year though so I don't want to upset anyone and cause dramas.

When i was at primary school my best friend had 10p for the corner shop EVERY SINGLE DAY and my mum used to wrap up a biscuit in foil for me - was I jealous? Hell yes. No harm done though and now i buy my own sweets. More pringles tomorrow for sure.

SnowyOwl1 · 19/01/2023 18:55

I came back to see what you ended up replying, amazing 👏 🤣. I'm just sad you are out of pringles, this could have been on of those long running threads with daily updates 😆 pringle gate.

Jessica1975 · 19/01/2023 18:58

There really are women out there who have far
too much time on their hands ….

MojoDaysxx · 19/01/2023 18:59

She's a control freak. Do as you please with your sons lunch.

I've been left on read. It wasn't intended to be a snarky response either. Genuinely just a breezy way of saying that I wouldn't be stopping. Sadly the Pringles ran out this morning though.

You have to buy more else she'll think she's won the Pringle War.

Poppasocks · 19/01/2023 19:04

I'd be sending pringles in right up until the end of year 6.

Infact do you see her on the school run? I'd be tempted march into the playground with a tube under my arm and just stand next to her munching obnoxiously

Glad I wasn’t the only one thinking of this 😂😂

Withmayo · 19/01/2023 19:09

Her reaction is ridiculous and there is far too much policing of packed lunches anyway! You are using left over food from Christmas in a useful way. Perhaps she has a good opportunity to teach her child about jealousy! Do what you want.

GoldilockMom · 19/01/2023 19:10

Well if your child ever gets invited to there birthday party / you know what to buy!

Pants0nFir3 · 19/01/2023 19:11

She needs to teach her kid that jealousy is a bad and wasted emotion. Plus needs to teach that life is not a box of pringles! What a fruit loop.

DillDanding · 19/01/2023 19:13

My kids’ primary would’ve sent a snarky email home with a reminder of their healthy lunch policy 🙄

Atsocta · 19/01/2023 19:16

Stupid woman! I’d have answered her and said ‘Mind your own business’
Now I’ve heard everything…

oosha · 19/01/2023 19:16

OMFG you are joking. I’m fairly civilized most of the time but she would have gotten a rather abrupt sod off from me

TaureanGemini · 19/01/2023 19:19

Sorry, OP I need to know the context. Was she being deadly serious or did she say it in a jokey way? I ask purely for curiosity purposes - i.e are people actually that cheeky/mad?

Regardless, keep putting Pringles in the lunch box 😋

Missingpop · 19/01/2023 19:26

God there’s always one isn’t there do you think the silly bitch actually sat & read what she’d written before she sent it?
How sodding petty!! next she’ll be going to the school head to complain 😂 definitely a Karen !! I love that you’ve sent once popped can’t stop 🤣🤣🤣 hilarious I hope her head almost burst in frustration 😂😂😂

SugarQills · 19/01/2023 11:42

We had these in the 90s for our Pringle lunch box needs

Maybe get him one of these?

Justbefair · 19/01/2023 19:34

Plain ridiculous, it concerns my what trivial issues some people focus on and complain about. Just hate some aspects of society that are microscopally (made up word) irrelevant amd will fuel our next generation to believe such tripe!

Gouron · 19/01/2023 19:37

Personally I stopped buying them after they won their case that they weren’t crisps but potato, rice and wheat flours mixed with fat and shaped. It’s a marketing thing calling them Pringles but they lost their appeal after that case.

the alternative would be to give him some to share with her DS but that might open a new can of worms/Pringles.

LoisLane66 · 19/01/2023 19:41

Buy more.

Ooh, I’d have to buy more, otherwise she might think you stopped because of her.

LoisLane66 · 19/01/2023 19:42

If you don't, she'll think her message has had an effect.

ign0re · 19/01/2023 19:43

My partners suggestion is to not put Pringles in tomorrow but lots of other equally enticing treats (within the rules)… 😂

or ignore. Definitely a bit mental

MCbadgelore · 19/01/2023 19:44

Random fact: the plastic lids from Pringles fit perfectly onto the little glass pots that Aldi individual cheesecakes/hot puddings come in…

Pringles in the packed lunch
Stephie0x31 · 19/01/2023 19:45

Could she have been joking?

HauntedPencil · 19/01/2023 19:54

Actually was it a joke? Otherwise... gosh!

Perfectly acceptable as most kids take crisps. Mad mad times
