Pringles in the packed lunch

Pennecrayon · 18/01/2023 11:02

This feels like an odd question but I wanted to ask here in case I am missing something. We have a few tubes of Pringles left over from Christmas and I've been putting a few in a Tupperware for DS's packed lunch. He's 7.

Last night, I got a WhatsApp from a parent who I don't know very well to ask me if I would stop putting Pringles in DS's packed lunch because it's making her son jealous. I was a bit taken aback and I didn't respond.

I think I'm entitled to put whatever I want in my DS's lunchbox (within the rules) and that's what I want to tell her. We're new to the school this year though so I don't want to upset anyone and cause dramas.

or say “yes I’m jealous too but DC is not going to be deprived of his Pringles because someone else doesn’t like it, sorry”

abmac95 · 19/01/2023 07:39

is it possible she is having a laugh?

Ineedcoffee2021 · 19/01/2023 07:41

How did you wait so long to reply
a LOL and STFU would have been all you needed

Givezero · 19/01/2023 07:52

I'm here for the mother's response to 'Now we've popped, we can't stop' reply. Epic reply!! Let's hope the DM doesn't pick up the story and make it nationwide🤣🤣

Sophie89j · 19/01/2023 08:13

I’d keep buying Pringles to spite the woman and keep putting them in his lunch box myself 😂
If every time that woman’s son is jealous of some thing someone else has what is she going to do? Message every single parent or when the child gets old enough, is he going to bully people for the things he wants? Ridiculous! It’s your sons packed lunch, if her son wants Pringles she can bloody buy some for him!!

Blogswife · 19/01/2023 08:15

Ha ha !
Id continue putting them in and tell the mum to ask her DC to stop staring at your DS while he’s eating his lunch as it’s putting him off his Pringles !

it not the best choice to try to use them up in a 7yr old’s lunch. Why don’t you give any unopened packs to a charity or the food bank?

Why would the OP do that?
Her ds likes pringles.

Cosycover · 19/01/2023 08:27

This has daily mail written all over it

I've done it! No response yet though.

👏👏👏 shameless placemarking

Why would the OP do that?
Her ds likes pringles.

Because apparently they are akin to crack cocaine in unhealthiness and therefore the poor people can eat them, because their diet doesn't matter!

Worcestershirem0mmy · 19/01/2023 09:25

Is she joking? Surely she’s joking?

Pennecrayon · 19/01/2023 09:56

I've been left on read. It wasn't intended to be a snarky response either. Genuinely just a breezy way of saying that I wouldn't be stopping. Sadly the Pringles ran out this morning though.

It was a humourous response to a ridiculous request and if you are asked about it I would say that you honestly didn't realise she was being serious.
On the other point of the Pringles running out, please, please, please buy some more 😁

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 19/01/2023 10:13

That’s ludicrous.

How can she think she can police your child’s packed lunch?

As long as it’s within the policy I think it’s fine

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 19/01/2023 10:14

Buy your child some Pringles for his birthday!

dogdaydown · 19/01/2023 10:20

We will have a MN whip round and buy some more for your DC.

rainbowstardrops · 19/01/2023 10:27

Surely people like this don't walk amongst us?! Hilarious and I love your reply!

CaramelMach · 19/01/2023 10:27

I'd imagine Amanda from Motherland saying something similar !

Member869894 · 19/01/2023 10:37

Ignore ignore ignore

LindaEllen · 19/01/2023 10:41

EmmaDilemma5 · 18/01/2023 11:13

Either ignore or

"Hey! Thanks for your message. My son likes pringles and they're allowed so he'll continue to have them. I wasn't sure if you were aware they're allowed, in case that's why you wouldn't give your son them. Food envy is real though, I hear you!"

This is a very diplomatic message to send.

Personally, I would reply 'What I put in my son's lunchbox is 100% within school guidelines, and also 100% none of your business.' and leave it at that.

Dummycrusher · 19/01/2023 10:59

Op you HAVE to buy more pringles now because otherwise she will think you've stopped putting them in because of her and God knows what other batshitness that will give the green light to.

I agree - If you give people like this an inch they'll take a mile.

OP I realise you haven't technically given in, but it will look like you have

I would purposely put them in now and if I were OP I'd be straight to Asda to stock up with as many tubes as I could carry!🤣😂

This, just keep it going for another week or so to avoid giving her any satisfaction that her craziness worked.
