Pringles in the packed lunch

Pennecrayon · 18/01/2023 11:02

This feels like an odd question but I wanted to ask here in case I am missing something. We have a few tubes of Pringles left over from Christmas and I've been putting a few in a Tupperware for DS's packed lunch. He's 7.

Last night, I got a WhatsApp from a parent who I don't know very well to ask me if I would stop putting Pringles in DS's packed lunch because it's making her son jealous. I was a bit taken aback and I didn't respond.

I think I'm entitled to put whatever I want in my DS's lunchbox (within the rules) and that's what I want to tell her. We're new to the school this year though so I don't want to upset anyone and cause dramas.

How on earth do you have pringles left unless there the sour cream ones lol. Me and my youngest (17) love them . Seriously though bot all to do with her what you put in your sons lunch box , this reminds me my tubs empty must put on the shopping list 🤣

J3001 · 18/01/2023 21:08

I need texasbbq pringles now

Lovelysausagedogscrumpy · 18/01/2023 21:20

Just a heads up. It’s well known among those who like to go out into nature and practice their survival skills, that Pringles make great firelighters. They catch fire and burn for longer because of their fat content.

You might want to rethink the ‘not going to harm her DC’ part. A third of the daily recommended fat intake for an adult (not a 7 year old) in just over a dozen Pringles. Higher than any other crisp (Although technically they’re not crisps) in salt, sugar and MSG and they contain trans fats. The potato content is dried and reconstituted and is bulked out with rice and wheat - potentially harmful if shared with a child who has wheat intolerance. My husbands’ heart nurse warned him off them when he told her of his fondness for them, as they are potentially harmful even in small quantities.

Oh fgs he’s having the leftovers from Christmas not eating them daily he’ll be fine

VeronicaFranklin · 18/01/2023 21:44

I would msg her back and say you send some for her child in your child's packed lunch tomorrow, problem solved.

I don’t disagree with you, but the fact that a specialist heart nurse is so dead set against them should act as a warning to all the other posters out there who do eat them in any quantity on a regular basis. However much you want to deny it, they’re very unhealthy.

rightsaidfreddie · 18/01/2023 23:24

I think that people commenting on whether or not they are healthy are missing the point.

This was not why the mum messaged the OP.

Bemyclementine · 18/01/2023 23:27

Good grief. I did this tge first week back at school to use up the Christmas pringles. I'd just reply, "they're on offer on tesco if you fancy giving your chikd a treat,"

Mybumlooksbig · 18/01/2023 23:32

mickandrorty · 18/01/2023 11:45

Tell her: no can do he has a special diet that requires pringles! seems as batshit as her message.

This 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Dummycrusher · 19/01/2023 00:12

She was shitting you, surely?

PopGoesTheProsecco · 19/01/2023 00:17

Any response to your message yet OP?

asblindasabat · 19/01/2023 00:19

If it was my me, I’d find it very hard to not text her back and tell her to piss off!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 18/01/2023 12:58

I'm hoping you mean a "wrap" and not a "Rizla"!

What is a Rizla?

Chicken wrap as in chicken and salad stuff in a wrap, substitute for bread and Roll up as in a sticky, fruity, sugary junk food.

Plant2628 · 19/01/2023 05:28

Hilarious
Ignore her, was she joking? If not, steer clear

Aprilx · 19/01/2023 05:37

Pennecrayon · 18/01/2023 11:14

Yeah, she sent me a direct WhatsApp (she must have my number from the group chat) but I haven't responded. I don't want it to be weird but I think she's being ridiculous. DH says I should just save the Pringles for home but I am a bit more confident (willing to fight people) than him.

I am wondering if she was joking and thinks she is engaging in some banter to be friendly? Only because it is otherwise so weird.

dogdaydown · 19/01/2023 05:42

@Lovelysausagedogscrumpy it's Christmas leftovers, she's not going to donate them to a charity and nor should she is your analogy is correct as they appear to be akin to crack cocaine and found fall into the wrong hands.

dogdaydown · 19/01/2023 05:43

*could

Wdib78 · 19/01/2023 05:44

Send him in with one of these 🤣

I'm petty so would escalate it with something even more desirable. A cheese string perhaps? Some twiglets?

One of those Dairylea Lunchables boxes every day, can you imagine how she’d cope with that 🤣

cravingmilkshake · 19/01/2023 06:23

@SusanPerbCallMeSue 😂😂😂😂

SusanPerbCallMeSue · 18/01/2023 11:08

I wouldn't put Pringles in my kids packed lunch (because I'd eat them all myself) and if my kid told me someone else had some I'd say "that's nice, the ones I ate were also nice"

🤣

Feelingmehmehmeh · 19/01/2023 06:55

I’d just say “I’m sorry little frogmella feels jealous but little Jonny really likes his Pringles in his lunch and I don’t feel I should deprive him because someone else is jealous. Where does it then stop? Jealousy is a natural emotion and is a fact of life”.
