Just wondering what the average is across the country.

My hairdresser was £35 for a cut and blow dry just before Covid. No restyle etc, just trim / tidy.

Now it's £55. I appreciate everything has gone up across the board and that we live in a fairly cheap area but that's a 57% increase in 3 years!

slamwich · 15/01/2023 11:44

£60

bluesky45 · 15/01/2023 11:46

£30 I think. Small fairly industrial town in the north.

Babdoc · 15/01/2023 11:47

£27. Perthshire. It was £22 pre-covid. I still think it’s v good value, especially as it only needs done every 6-8 weeks.

TheOtherHotstepper · 15/01/2023 11:54

£15 at home. Midlands.

PurpleFlower1983 · 15/01/2023 11:55

£33 Yorkshire in a nice, modern salon with talented hair stylists. Highlights £44 more.

oldtableleg · 15/01/2023 11:57

Basic cut £55 - Thames Valley, was 45 this time last year :/

oldtableleg · 15/01/2023 11:59

(That’s for a junior stylist - it goes up to 155!)

Underhisi · 15/01/2023 12:03

£30 for cut and blow dry. I only have a trim but cost is the same for any cut. A few pounds more than pre covid. In a small town NW England salon where owner works alone.

Baconand · 15/01/2023 12:04

Just gone up from £40 to £42 Rural East Mids

HeavenIsAHalfpipe · 15/01/2023 12:07

@WhenIAmOldIShallWearPurple Cut wash and blow dry has gone up to £80 where I live, and it's £60-67 for a dry cut!! (Pre pandemic it was £30 for a cut, wash, and blow dry - and £15-17 for a cut.)

See my post at 11.59pm last night. As I said, I won't be using a hairdresser again now. Sure, costs have gone up for everyone, but as I said in my post on this thread, my husband went to a barber shop in a large town shopping centre a few weeks ago, they spent 35 minutes on it and made it look great, and he was only charged £18.

I live in a small market town by the way. Not a big city. No reason for high costs IMO. Just that the 2 only salons have the monopoly. Only ones around for 18 miles or so.

the80sweregreat · 15/01/2023 12:10

I paid 43 last week , my usual hairdresser is around 45. Was in the chair about half hour

FannythePinkFlamingo · 15/01/2023 12:14

£48 in Cornwall which is £15 more than it was pre-covid.

Sunbird24 · 15/01/2023 12:15

£21 in rural East Midlands

OneCup · 15/01/2023 12:15

I get my husband to do it as I hate to go to the hairdresser so it's free for me but very much at 'my own risk' as my husband always points out!
The first time felt quite scary!
He normally does ok, with some cuts being a bit wonky but I end up sorting out myself in a few minutes in front of the mirror.

Christmascracker0 · 15/01/2023 12:17

Edinburgh - I paid £70 for my most recent hair cut. A well recommended salon but I was given a plastic gown and paper towel thing around my neck, so won’t be going back!!

I prefer paying around £45 - £55.

BG2015 · 15/01/2023 12:19

£27 I live in Stoke on Trent and have been going to the same, small, local salon since I was £15. I'm 53 now.

I pay £55 for a colour, cut and blow dry.

Cornelious · 15/01/2023 12:20

Not sure about just a cut but had my roots done and then bayalage and a cut and blow dry and that was £70.

MavisMcMinty · 15/01/2023 12:20

I’m in Devon, and only ever go to the hairdresser for a wet cut, and she seems to charge me £1 a minute as it always costs between £14 and £18! She also only accepts cash, no cheques or cards, and owns the salon.

2catsandhappy · 15/01/2023 12:20

£27 which gives a £3 tip to round off. South Wales.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 15/01/2023 12:21

£50 for a wet cut, down south

(My hair is so short she blow dries it for free 🤫)

morechocolateneededtoday · 15/01/2023 12:29

£17 without proper blow dry (rough dry with hairdryer), £30 with blow dry
Home salon in outer London

KangarooKenny · 15/01/2023 12:29

About £38

BadlydoneHelen · 15/01/2023 12:30

£28 senior stylist, nice salon Midlands

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 15/01/2023 12:30

Cost me £47 yesterday but that’s was because I had £20 of points - it should be £67. I’m in London though.
