Just wondering what the average is across the country.

My hairdresser was £35 for a cut and blow dry just before Covid. No restyle etc, just trim / tidy.

Now it's £55. I appreciate everything has gone up across the board and that we live in a fairly cheap area but that's a 57% increase in 3 years!

Yeah, I'm in the SE which does seem to mean everything costs £££££

Elsanore · 15/01/2023 10:29

Yesterday, for highlights and a cut for me and a haircut for my daughter I paid £55 total. Well £60 because I rounded up as a tip.

I met my hairdresser 20 or so years ago when she was my stylist in an expensive trendy salon in Leeds and then she went mobile and extremely cheap. She's put her prices up this year which I encouraged- she was really underselling her skills. She also teaches in a hairdressing college now. She's fab.

Definitely look around for a local mobile hairdresser, it's a good business choice for a good hairdresser and you can get big salon quality. I think mine trained with Toni & Guy.

£65 Berkshire, but I have thick curly hair and it takes blooming ages!

Bunnynames101 · 15/01/2023 10:51

I just get a dry cut. Priced at £7.99 but not audacious enough to accept the change from my £10 note. She does exactly what I need. Takes less than 20 minutes. I'm in South Yorkshire (not Sheffield).

whataboutsecondbreakfast · 15/01/2023 10:52

My hairdresser charges £35 - Cumbria.

But I get it free as she's my SIL. I walk her dog in exchange 🐶

Pjsandpringles · 15/01/2023 10:59

£85. Have had the same hairdresser for 20 years now. When I started going to him, he was £20. Obviously, as time has passed, he's progressed and now owns the salon. There's only one other person in the salon I'll let do my hair, and she's not much cheaper. I trust him completely. I know its crazy expensive but its worth it in my opinion.

I always get my hair coloured at the same time and the colour is the same price with all stylists.

Mu daughter paid £20 for a wet cut last week and a french braid whilst wet. She usa student so im not sure if that was cheap. Last time she had a BD it was £24

my wet cut is £24. I never have a blow dry. Hairdresser dont know how to deal with natural curly hair, so leave it wet. I know my hair, i like to style it myself, and that is why i only go once every 12-18 months

ToffeeNotCoffee · 15/01/2023 11:00

£45 for a cut and blow dry yesterday - west midlands

thirdistheonewiththehairychest · 15/01/2023 11:08

£35. Brighton salon but it's a tiny one in the dodgy end of town. They don't even take card payments 😂

Proteinpudding · 15/01/2023 11:09

£50 Manchester city centre. I could pay a bit less in a small town salon, but it has taken me a while to find a hairdresser who is good at short haircuts.

Mapletreelane · 15/01/2023 11:12

£40 Nottingham

Tinktravels · 15/01/2023 11:13

40 last time I went but I don't go very often

mondaytosunday · 15/01/2023 11:13

£57 last time with head stylist at a salon 70 miles outside London. I actually travelled to see her (not only just to see her). I've tried four in London ranging from £40 to £80 and all been subpar. In fact I think one of the best I ever had in my life was one of those drop in places in the 80s!

piedbeauty · 15/01/2023 11:14

£37 for youngest trainee, £60 for salon art director. Bonkers.

RewildingAmbridge · 15/01/2023 11:16

£40-£50 depending if I have the senior stylist or the owner, that is quite reasonable for here though. The last salon I was going to was £75 pre COVID. That's Essex.

QuietYou · 15/01/2023 11:16

£34.00 although I've recently found out she only charges DS1 £10.

Candymay · 15/01/2023 11:17
  1. And it’s a straightforward trim. I don’t go often.
snowsilver · 15/01/2023 11:19

£15, just gone up from £12.
Mobile hairdresser. She did highlights for me last week, three shades, cut and blow £40.

Lonecatwithkitten · 15/01/2023 11:19

£63 west Berkshire - no one has every cut my hair as well as him. His prices took a hike this year due to energy costs and then hitting the VAT threshold - so the actual hair cut is £50.40. It is worth remembering that those in salons are almost certainly subject to VAT whilst hone based probably don't turnover enough to hit the threshold.

Dinoboymama · 15/01/2023 11:20

£20 for adult £10, for child in central Scotland.

Pinkdelight3 · 15/01/2023 11:22

Central London - blow dry is £50, with a cut it's £175, hence I only have three or four a year for spesh occasions.

Ragwort · 15/01/2023 11:22

Nothing ! (obviously I give a tip) really good 'model school' in our local hairdressers one day a week, properly supervised .... can always get an appointment every couple of months. Some people go every week. Complimentary (decent) coffee as well ..

Tricyrtis2022 · 15/01/2023 11:24

£48.50 in west Oxfordshire. I followed this stylist from the last salon as she's the only one I've found who can cut my hair the way I want it.

HamzasHairnet · 15/01/2023 11:24

£25 Birmingham suburb

Theheartsinvisiblefuries · 15/01/2023 11:42
