Radio presenter calling all Emma’s evil in the 90’s

AIBU to remember a radio DJ, possibly Chris Moyles or similar launching a campaign in the late 90’s calling all Emma’s evil?
As a teenager with low self esteem, and the name, it massively effected me, increasing my self loathing.
AIBU to think that person needs calling out for it, even after all these years to apologise, they certainly wouldn’t think it was OK nowadays

My dd is an Emma. She's lovely as an adult but was often an evil teenager!

I think you need to let it go. There's always some so called celebrity trying to make a name for themselves by belittling others.

I was a young mum in the late 90s and worked in a convenience store that had the radio on constantly and I don't remember this.

I’ve never made the mistake of listening to Chris Moyles, but surely the ‘joke’ of this ‘campaign’ would have been that it’s the most utterly generic name, hence the equivalent of suggesting anyone with size six feet be burned at the stake, or that magnolia paint use is a sign of the Antichrist?

He was vile about Nicola Roberts out of Girls Aloud. Basically saying she was ugly. On the radio to his millions of thick listeners.

She was 16 at the time.

It was Chris Moyles. I seem to remember that either him or producer Dave had been dumped by an Emma so that’s how the feature started. Then they’d get people to call in with their evil Emma stories.
I’m an Emma and was at college at the time so 17/18. I took a bit of ribbing but for me it was all in good humour and it didn’t affect me at all.
easier said than done but don’t take it to heart and if it’s still bothering you now maybe look into some counselling to help you with your self esteem.

Also Emma the baby in friends! Rachel was really the star of Friends and she chose that name.

I did not know this.
On account of the fact of one aspect of her appearance only I am guessing😡
(Though I do remember her talking about how she felt self conscious without lashings of fake tan)

It's time this particular sort of prejudice was criminalised, in the same way that Ageism/Mysogynism/any other 'ism' is.

I used to listen to Simon Mayo as I drove to work and he was bantery/mean to Jackie Brambles . I thought him when I read this .
Couldn't listen to Chris Moyles , he irritated the bejusus out of me

I do remember the All Emmas ,They Are Evil though
It wouldn't have been Mark&Lard though .They were ace .
