To ask what I should buy/bring back from New York?

I'm going to New York next month, it'll be my first time visiting America so I'm really excited!

I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for particular things to buy when out there e.g. particular American candy/food, makeup, etc.

They sell George clothing in Walmart in my region. I had a gorgeous light blue cashmere and silk blend George sweater once - was so sad when it got ruined in the wash.

You can get a Lyft or Uber from Manhattan to Bergen NJ - no need to hire a car. A shared ride might be cheaper than individual fares.

Or go to Walmart in Jamaica/ Queen's and see a slice of NY life.

I would consider this an authentic tourist experience.

The only thing I've found that I can't get (well I can but it's more expensive!) is tree hut body scrubs
I love them as they're so scrubby and haven't found anything here that compares

We went to one in Florida. It was basically an even crappier version of Asda where the food comes in bigger containers.

It wasn’t as interesting as I imagined, sadly. I’d been to the states a lot by that point & it’d been on my bucket list!

If you like Mexican or Tex-Mex food bring back things like canned chipotle in adobo sauce, chipotle powder, ancho chilles etc. much cheaper & easier to obtain than here. I really like looking around the bodegas.

Otherwise Walgreens for painkillers, antihistamines and I really love Lady Speedstick Invisible stick deodorants.

I would bring back Hostess Cupcakes and Jiffy brownie mix (which I eat raw as they are awful brownies). But that's just me - I grew up there and they were on my Xmas list from my sisters!

Going to NYC and getting excited about buying big bottles if paracetamol and ibuprofen to bring back has to be one of the saddest things I’ve ever heard 🫤
