Chill the fuck out. It’s once a year.

AndyWarholsPiehole · 01/01/2023 00:02

I wish fireworks were banned. I hate them.

Happy new year op

heartbroken22 · 01/01/2023 00:03

Feels like we're getting ready for a war where I'm living.

ChristineCagney11 · 01/01/2023 00:04

Fucking hate them.
Happy new year though everyone

Absolutely no need for the public to have access to explosives!
They should be banned except for licensed, public events. And even then they should be quiet ones only.
Sick to death of people thinking their 30 seconds of pleasure trumps the welfare of thousands of people with PTSD, animals who are spooked by them and all those whose lives are disrupted by stray fireworks settling things alight or worse

I mean, in the street, the road, where the buses drove round the corner having no clue what they were driving into.

I think enough of us have screamed at them as they've dispersed. I shudder to think how the people in the flats right there must be feeling. It's a rough road - now, not years ago when I moved in - and I've never seen this before. Guys at the pub opposite are furious.

I’ve got a full on fireworks display going on outside 🙄

EmmaAgain22 · 01/01/2023 00:09

A display is fine, this was literally in a busy road and they had a massive set up.

OP posts:
Unananana · 01/01/2023 00:10

Same here. My partner has combat PTSD and he is a wreck. Just so selfish wankers can listen to some bang bangs.
They should be banned from public sale.

KnobbyKnobson · 01/01/2023 00:11

You must live in a very rough area.

It isn't, though.

Fireworks used to be once a year, nov 5th at a child-friendly time, with just a few big displays eg in London on New Year's Eve.

KnobbyKnobson · 01/01/2023 00:11

It used to be nice.

it's an absolute shithole now. I have got to get out of London. I tried last year and it fell through.

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough
fireworks in the street, not in a garden. Massive fireworks that literally had people in the flats, inches away, screaming. The buses couldn't get through.

started about quarter to midnight.

now we just have normal fireworks.

the guys dispersed very quickly, they know what they're doing.

@justgettingthroughtheday
Yup fireworks are mostly for narcissists
The rest of us have to deal with the trauma they cause.

Jesus, definitely get out of London.

Your lot might think we have no electricity up in't sticks but we don't have to worry about this kind of rabble.

Kanaloa · 01/01/2023 00:22

Same here. It’s awful. DS is in a stress and repeatedly asking what time they will stop, when will they go on until, where exactly are they going off etc etc. Nightmare. I hate fireworks and would happily see them banned forever.

Flowers Maybe get him some Ear Defenders for future use? They're brilliant. Completely cut you off from outside noise.
I know he shouldn't have to be, but they're very good!

ChristineCagney11 · 01/01/2023 00:23

@Yorla
Go to sleep feck sake

Again, are people setting them off in a public street in the pavement?

I am not criticising regular folk, but this is a group who were doing something full on dangerous. It's flats on an A road with a very narrow pavement.

Earplugs, headphones ....

Don't work for many individuals. Persons with autism who can't wear them due to sensory issues, my partner who can't have anything over his head or blocking his ears due to the gas masks he wore fighting in Helmand, pets who can't wear them.

Selfish twats, the lot of them.

EmmaAgain22 · 01/01/2023 00:24

Ear Defenders would not be any use.

police here now.

Chill the fuck out. It’s once a year.

See there lies the issue. If it was indeed once a year there would be no problem. But it actually isn't once a year is it. Fireworks start in September where I live and sporadically go off until the lighter nights.

Some cunt let them off at midnight on Christmas Eve. So no. It's not 'once a year' so how about chill the fuck off...

Yfory · 01/01/2023 00:25

KnobbyKnobson Alas thats not true - Ive got friends who live "in the north" who have exactly this kind of crazy (fireworks in the street) going on.
