I used to absolutely love fireworks as a kid, but now there's so many absolute utter dickheads and utter wankers just buying them from the shops and letting them off in the streets, that I think they should be banned for sale to the public. I have thought this for some years now.
Yes to big organised displays for special events - New Year's Eve, Coronation, Jubilee, England Womens team winning a big footie tournament, or if England mens team ever win one!!! (don't laugh.)
But none available to the public. Like @KnobbyKnobson I am blessed with living in the sticks, not quite up north, but close (on the border of the north,) and we have very little fireworks. There's a swanky posh hotel some three quarters of a mile from me by road where people have weddings, and we get fireworks going off there 3 or 4 times during the summer, but they always warn people on the facebook page so they can put their pets away.
My little village (a mile from the next village so quite secluded and rural,) had NONE last night. NONE. When I lived in a big midlands town (some 10 years ago,) it was like a war zone from 11pm-ish to about 1.30am. My 2 DC said it was like that for them last night - they live in the big town I used to live in. Makes me wonder how people can afford fireworks in the current climate, with the cost of living crisis.
Also agree with the posters saying it is NOT just new years eve and bonfire night. Around the time of bonfire night, the fireworks (for many,) start around 25th October, and go every night til around the 15th November. I don't experience this now fortunately.
