Weird dolls hanging on neighbours tree?

Unsure what this is for but they keep adding more rag dolls to their tree in their front garden. It's really creeping my children out.

They are hanging with other objects like wooden rings and ribbons. Is it some kind of pagan thing? No idea but it's bloody weird...

Aibu to ask them what it's for!? We live in a quiet little part outside of a city. Nothing unusual goes on here!

How bizarre 🤣 Although - there’s a person in my small town who has a front garden covered, and I mean COVERED, in hundreds of dolls heads on sticks 🙃 And one large male mannequin torso on a stick 😂 It’s an end terrace in a perfectly lovely part of town. It’s utterly bizarre!

And I really wish I was joking 😅

Where are you? In some parts of Scotland there are "clootie trees" (a clootie is a cloth) where people tie rags/old clothes into trees. I've never seen/heard of one that includes dolls though!

Just to add the examples hanging from your neighbour's trees are not like the teddy bears, etc I saw adorning properties in Albania.

TBH, in your position I'd be too consumed by curiosity to not knock on their door and ask....they're most likely really hoping someone does and why can't that someone be you.

Please ask and update here and I promise to explain the Albanian stuffed toy thing as soon as I can ask an Albanian about it. Hopefully very soon as I sure need a holiday and Tirana looks good.

Weird. Please ask them and report back. I did used to have several bamboo poles with Barbie heads on in my garden. They made good eye protector things and I liked the grotesqueness of it .

I think I’d knock on the door and say “see you have a put up a liberty tree” and if they go “wot?!” then say, oh, it’s not a liberty tree, my mistake, may I ask what it is? Just chat long enough to find out how sane they are and perhaps suggest they take it down.

Yes but I wonder why they are adding some and adding random bits too? I am nosy I guess and would love to know haha! They aren't my next door neighbours but we drove past to get out of the estate!

It's a really quiet part in Hampshire.

There’s an island somewhere (I think near Mexico?) with loads of dolls like this hanging off trees, I watched a paranormal programme on it and the legend is the dolls attract the lost souls and demons. They did a ghost overnight investigation and the dolls were moving by themselves and stuff, was really eerie…

I wonder if your neighbours are some kind of satanic worshippers or something.

Looks freaky, whatever you do, don’t touch the dolls 😱

😂I've seen enough horror movies to see how this is going to play out. You're going to hear a noise in your house one night and it's going to be the doll in the white dress, wanting to play a game 😬

@Dontsayyouloveme @PepsiMaxAholic it’s so creepy 🙈 It’s on quite a narrow residential street with another row of terraced housing straight opposite and I hate to think of their view everytime they look outside 🙈🤣

And id kill to see the back garden 🙈
