Weird dolls hanging on neighbours tree?

sandyfroglets · 11/12/2022 22:57

Unsure what this is for but they keep adding more rag dolls to their tree in their front garden. It's really creeping my children out.

They are hanging with other objects like wooden rings and ribbons. Is it some kind of pagan thing? No idea but it's bloody weird...

Aibu to ask them what it's for!? We live in a quiet little part outside of a city. Nothing unusual goes on here!

Dont go in their basement

2bazookas · 12/12/2022 16:56

Those are Christmas tree decorations common in Scandinavia or East Europe.

2bazookas · 12/12/2022 16:58

oops , that should have been @Pineapplehead's pic not OP's.

FictionalCharacter · 12/12/2022 17:01

@Mamanyt Your tree sounds lovely!

Bluekerfuffle · 12/12/2022 17:08

What an eyesore. Looks like rubbish and a washing line full of pants got caught in the tree after a gale on first glance.

Penaltyshootoutfan · 12/12/2022 17:20

I also think protection, but not from spirits . Ain’t no 0ne breaking into that house.

Wish I'd not looked now I'll have nightmares. The stuff about the insects made my blood run cold.

Thank you! I'm a bit of a tree nut! I have several sets of ornaments that I use in turn. There's the "bug" tree, the "snack" tree (faux apples, candy canes-real-, and a hard candy garland), a blue and silver tree, the "woodland" tree (small plastic woodland animals covered in silver leaf, pine cones and an acorn garland) and the Solstice tree (ceramic suns, moons, and stars). I have a lot of fun collecting for them, and displaying them. Just depends on my mood each year, which one goes up.

sandyfroglets · 13/12/2022 09:52

They were all a little frosty this morning when we drove past. Maybe I'll knit them some blankets.

This has made the daily mail today

We obviously have Claire Toureille lurking around here! Hiya love!!

Oh dear. Isn't that going a bit far? The DM publishing the OP's photos.

More chance of the neighbour, or another neighbour in the area, spotting it in the DM.

DesertIslandCondiment · 13/12/2022 11:31

It's pathetic and quite funny that the DM post these threads and then all the DM readers just then slag MN off.

Yes, people can do what they want in their gardens but other people can think they it's as weird as fuck.

sandyfroglets · 13/12/2022 13:00

Oh Jesus Christ; I am not happy about that tbh... I guess I have no ground though if I've posted on here!!

Think they need to pay you for using the images without your permission?

bluebellmay2020 · 13/12/2022 13:21

@DuchessDandelion no because Mumsnet have the right to use anything you post including photos. I expect they get some revenue from the Daily Mail as well.

Trust the Daily Fail to insert multiple mistakes into the story.
They claim it's the OP's next door neighbour, although it isn't.
And they refer to it being in the back garden in the headline, but front garden elsewhere.
Come on 'Claire' - can't you do better than this?!

Wow… I heard the rumours that daily mail does this but this is the first I have encountered in on mumsnet. This just seems like really lazy journalism. 🤨 Is it slow going? I mean they really couldn’t think of anything better to write about? What a fail. I hope they aren’t getting paid much for this because I could have done better and I didn’t exactly get an english major in university.

BooseysMom · 16/12/2022 03:35

I was only saying to DH (of the look-a-like head in photo of garden heads!!) that this is bound to get in the Daily Fail and lo and behold there it is!

Ijuststoodonlego · 16/12/2022 09:32

Lazy journalism, come on DM. Tut tut

Keke4 · 17/12/2022 18:31

Ppl just need to mind their own business it's their house and their tree you dint need to knock and ask them anything.
