The most WTF threads of 2022

InPraiseOfBacchus · 08/12/2022 13:12

I made a similar post last year and the responses were just amazing!

I feel like nothing can beat the WTF-ery of 2021 (remember the fruit-and-a-hard-drive Christmas gift, and the Chapel Screamer?), but I'd love to be proved wrong.

What have been your favourite threads from the MN Twilight Zone?

If anyone's curious, here's last year's: www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4429944-To-think-back-on-this-years-best-WTF-threads

My stand out moment of 2022 was the OP who was angry at her colleague for putting salt and pepper on his turkey dinner before tasting it. She was raging. It was full of so much fuckery.

Lurpackintheback · 08/12/2022 13:21

Cowhen!!

Itwasntevenblackpudding · 08/12/2022 13:27

This is my favourite thread this year by a mile (and the reason for this username).

I'm sorry but "Owl noises" wins hands down. It even inspired my username before my last change.

To have laughed at her Slimming World advice? http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/amiibeingunreasonable/4456850-To-have-laughed-at-her-Slimming-World-advice

Keyansier · 08/12/2022 14:17

The thread about the OP who claimed that they couldn't get into London for a work meeting because the train was cancelled and then was then posting updates online when they should have been doing a presentation for people who had travelled far for a meeting.

Shrew icecream?

Can I make ice cream from shrews? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/4607290-can-i-make-ice-cream-from-shrews

InPraiseOfBacchus · 08/12/2022 14:46

If I hadn't already worked in the service industry I'd have assumed the "Bacon is from pigs??????!!!" woman was made up. Sadly, my experience of the general public means I know better.

Owl noises v funny. I quite enjoyed the recurring deep sea creatures too.

RaRaRaspoutine · 08/12/2022 14:47

The CF aquaintance turning up with a suitcase and the OP not answering the door! www.mumsnet.com/talk/relationships/4624579-cf-acquaintance-turned-up-today-despite-refusing-invite

minou123 · 08/12/2022 14:48

I think, for me, the most WTF was the cheeky fuckery thread.

The Op's friend had died.

A mutal friend was due to get married. The mother of the bride sent an message to the widow of the deceased asking if the deceased will still be giving a gift for the wedding.

I'll see if I can find a link to the thread

DutchessOfMuck · 08/12/2022 14:48

Thanks @InPraiseOfBacchus I was hoping there would be a 2022 thread. It's got to be salt and pepper for me.

minou123 · 08/12/2022 14:55

Found it! Cheeky Fuckery of the year award goes to......

For me it's got to be the owl noises one.

I need this thread. 😂

Haven’t got a good one to mind sadly but watching this thread with interest.

I think we've found a winner already.

Seriously, this is the post I didn't know I needed to see today.

Poppyseed14 · 08/12/2022 15:13

I liked the scaffolding one. Felt sorry for the poor OP but my did that saga go on and on.

sittingonacornflake · 08/12/2022 15:26

I liked the electrician using the OP's house to have an extra marital affair!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 08/12/2022 15:39

Not the best of the year, but the thread this week about washing up bowls was astonishing. Can someone explain how exactly a washing up bowl is used? was my favourite post.

www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4693060-washing-up-bowl

Itwasntevenblackpudding · 08/12/2022 16:03

The "what's the purpose of a cheque stub" one is pretty baffling, but the OP unsurprisingly hasn't come back to that one

poweredbyplants · 08/12/2022 16:09

The one in which the OP was insistent that she must remove her mask (I'm sure that was this year though mask wearing seems a long distant memory at this point) in order to breastfeed on a train. As if without being able to see the lower half of her face her infant would think it was just a random woman attempting to shove a nipple in their mouth perhaps? 😅

Gunner1510 · 08/12/2022 16:11

What was the one about the ‘creepy music’ at the bottom of the garden every night, which the OP thought was ghosts… that one was good!
