To turn down the offer of a free coffee boy?

CoffeeBoy · 03/12/2022 21:07

Name changed as this is outing.

someone on Instagram has messaged me asking if I wanted a coffee boy. Apparently all this entails is that when I have been to Starbucks, etc I message him and say something like “coffee boy pay for my coffee” and he reimburses me. He says he loves paying for ladies coffees ..

cant work out if it’s an odd fetish or if it’s some sort of scam as he’d need my bank account details. I mean obviously I’m not actually going to sign up for this “service” even though free Starbucks sounds tempting but I suspect it’s more a fetish than a scam as his Instagram account seems genuine. Is this a known thing?

What about if you went to Costa? Or McDonald's Café?

CoffeeBoy · 03/12/2022 21:11

Oh he covers all coffee venues. I told him I only drink tea but he’ll cover that too.

Just because he has sort code and account number doesn't mean he can withdraw your funds. He needs that info to pay in, or give him PayPal. Sorry but can't process the request as it sounds strange but just wanted to clarify that having account details doesn't mean they can access your funds.

W.T.F.

Nancienoo · 03/12/2022 21:16

The mind boggles

No, they’d need to be able to log in to your account to take money out.

Coffee Boy seems to be a coffee shop franchise. It's probably some marketing ploy. It's made me Google it anyway.

TulipCat · 03/12/2022 21:17

Why on earth would you invite this into your life? Clearly most men don't go about doing this so there is obviously something going on here, be it fetush, scam or whatever else. Buy your own drinks and avoid the inevitable unwelcome conclusion of whatever this is.

CoffeeBoy · 03/12/2022 21:18

No, he’s absolutely not linked to the coffee shops with that name, he’s in a different area

Can't comment on the fetish/oddness of it as everyone has their thing, but another option is for him to top up his own Starbucks account, take a screenshot of the barcode page on the app and send it to you to use - you then get that scanned at the till in Starbucks. That way you don't have to share any details with him, and he still gets a kick out of his affordable level of tea and two sugar-daddying.

(I only know the barcode thing works as I've seen an influencer I follow do it on Instagram before!)

CoffeeBoy · 03/12/2022 21:18

I didn’t invite it, he messaged me uninvited

What the bloody heck ?
How and why would he do this ?

Whats stopping uou from saying you bought a coffee but haven't?
How does he get the money to you

There is no way I would give anyone except a very trusted family member my bank details .

crussont · 03/12/2022 21:19

Weird

CoffeeBoy · 03/12/2022 21:20

Even if there is a way of getting the money paid to me safely I won’t be taking him up on his offer, I’d be far too worried about him sending me oDd messages

It's definitely a kink. Some blokes like being taken advantage of so say you can buy stuff and they'll pay knowing they get nothing in return.
I haven't had anyone approach me but a friend did and ended up getting a lot of stuff. I don't know if I agree with it though but my point is the men are happy and willing to do it

Blowthemandown · 03/12/2022 21:27

@ScotsWhaHae77
Can try and set up direct debits though!

This! (I was joking re the Costa question).

If a bloke 9n a train said he'd buy you a coffee if he could sit and wank, whilst sat next to you, you'd tell him to fuck off. This is just the online version.

EmmaAgain22 · 03/12/2022 21:38

What?!

WineAndDontDine · 03/12/2022 21:39

Could be a kink... I watched some TV show a few months back about bdsm etc. A client of a prostitute used to crawl up to her door, give her money, get called a few names and crawl away. He got the kick out of being financially submissive. I've been rethinking my career choices ever since. Done worse for free.....

KindergartenKop · 03/12/2022 21:43

Will he get me cake too?

HRTQueen · 03/12/2022 21:45

Why would you give your bank details to anyone you don’t know or that is not a trusted site

Flapjackquack · 03/12/2022 21:45

It’s a fetish. I watched a documentary about it a while ago. There are dominatrix who never even see clients, they just demand money and gifts and the men willingly pay. It’s a form of domination and servitude without any actual sex. Weird AF but there you go.

realmsofglory · 03/12/2022 21:46

as someone else said you can set up a dd with just this info, and it depends as well what information he has gor to use in conjunction with this

ForgetBarbie · 03/12/2022 21:47

That sounds great, I’d defo do it. One time I was selling a pair of trainers on Gumtree and someone messaged asking for pictures for the heel of my feet. I was about 17 and this went on for years, he’d send me £5 everytime😬

poefaced · 03/12/2022 21:49

Think this is called FinDom. It would taint the taste of my coffee, but doubt it’s a scam.
