BlueKaftan · 19/11/2022 21:36

Individuals is even worse.

LuciferRising · 19/11/2022 21:37

I use it rather than guys.

KangarooKenny · 19/11/2022 21:37

You’re doing well if that’s all you’ve got to complain about.

GerronBuzanDoThaWomwok · 19/11/2022 21:38

Nowt so queer as folk , as we say in Lancashire 😎

FiveShelties · 19/11/2022 21:38

It is almost as bad as 'makes my teeth curl'Wink

LeafHunter · 19/11/2022 21:39

I use it instead of guys too. What would you rather people said OP?

Sparklingbrook · 19/11/2022 21:39

My favourite phrase, and I'm from the Midlands. Sounds so much better in a northern accent though Grin

tickticksnooze · 19/11/2022 21:40

Better than addressing women as "guys".

DistantSkye · 19/11/2022 21:40

I also use it instead of "guys". What would you suggest instead?

girlmom21 · 19/11/2022 21:41

Shit I missed 'teeth curl' 🤣

And in Yorkshire. Maybe its getting old fashioned as I remember my parents and grandparents referring to people as 'Leeds folk, Bradford folk, Dales folk, etc.

Toottooot · 19/11/2022 21:41

Fits wrang wi folk?

CaptainThe95thRifles · 19/11/2022 21:41

Folk with curly teeth really get my alpaca.

imbacktoshowyoumydress · 19/11/2022 21:42

We say folks at our small business sometimes because it's gender neutral and don't want to say "guys" 🤷‍♀️

TwoMonthsOff · 19/11/2022 21:46

I like the word folk, it is quaint and traditional, I don't like 'peeps' though

How do teeth curl? Same way as blood boils or teeth itch?

CaptainCreepsBourgeMobile · 19/11/2022 21:49

I hate curly teeth as well.

TheArtfulStodger · 19/11/2022 21:50

I swapped out 'guys', 'dudes', 'boys', 'girls' and 'peeps' for folks.

Doesn't piss off women. Doesn't piss off men. Doesn't piss off enbies. Doesn't piss off people who find 'peeps' wrong on some level.

Shall I just go back to calling everyone 'guys' again?

Mrsjayy · 19/11/2022 21:51

stuntbubbles · 19/11/2022 21:36

Isn’t it a Scottish thing?

Yeah, although my northern English friend says It too,

Oysterbabe · 19/11/2022 21:51

Teeth do not curl.

Tubbyinthehottub · 19/11/2022 21:52

I'm not keen because I work with someone who addresses colleagues on email as 'folks' if it's a mixed gender group but I know if his email is to men only, they get 'gents'. Annoys me that he must double check to see if any women are included and choose accordingly, especially as folks seems more peasanty than gents. What's wrong with 'Hi all'? Confused

Moby1canobi · 19/11/2022 21:52

Teeth curl? Gross.
Folk. Fine.

Trulyweird1 · 19/11/2022 21:52

Not really. It sounds more American to me.
