actualnamechange · 19/11/2022 22:37

'Weird cunts they are'

Isn’t it a Scottish thing?

Im Scottish and know loads of people who say this including me from time to time. Normal to us!

MyCatIsAFuckwit · 19/11/2022 23:05

@actualnamechange
😂 I actually read your post with a Scottish accent!
I'm a Lancashire Lass (hope the term Lass doesn't make OP's head spin) I use the term folk regularly 🤪

MontyK · 19/11/2022 23:10

Not as bad as people who say t'interweb -

Also isn't it toe hurl not teeth?!

Stayathomenamechange · 19/11/2022 23:12

I really dislike "folx", and "humans". As in "Out with these lovely humans!"

Any cunt would agree in the bit of Scotland I'm in. 😅

A wis black affronted when I heard them all saying folk were a guid cunt. Or the generic "oh ya cunt" i hear regularly 😅

UsingChangeofName · 19/11/2022 23:16

Another who is a bit concerned about your teeth, but there is nothing wrong with the term folk. Surely one way of including everyone ?

Gronkle · 19/11/2022 23:17

It never ceases to amaze me what some people are arsed about. Honestly, what does it matter?

Black affronted 😂. Christ, I've no heard that for years! I'm bringing that back into my everyday vocabulary as from tomorrow. (Lived in England for 19 years)

momlette · 19/11/2022 23:26

not keen on folk either sounds a bit “ folksy” imagine them like strange woodland dwellers with tights on and pointy shoes. Kin see they cunts far enough!

MNMH · 19/11/2022 23:28

Yeah doesn't it suck when people say things differently than you do? It's like, c'mon, it annoys me! Change the way you speak so it doesn't bother me!

GCautist · 19/11/2022 23:29

Folk I have no issues with but folx that’s a different matter

donquixotedelamancha · 19/11/2022 23:33

It’s cringy, though not as bad as “folks”

This. Folk is a perfectly cromulent word but folks is pluralising a plural and will be punishable by death when I rise to power.

I feel embiggened by your words!

I don't think anyone uses folx IRL. I've only ever seen it from spoof characters like Titania McGrath and Owen Jones.

Why thank you fellow Springfielder.

Anonymouslyembarassed · 19/11/2022 23:46

I use folks and I'm in the north of England, but it refers to my parents. I'd never use this term for anyone else.

Justcallmebebes · 19/11/2022 23:52

Tintackedsea · 19/11/2022 23:54

Scottish teacher.I say it every school day. YABU

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 19/11/2022 23:59

I’ve never heard anyone say “teeth curl” before.

Isn’t toes curl or teeth itch?

“Folk” is an interesting word. It ought really to mean “the people” in the way it does in German (volk), which is what it means when you say “folk dancing” or “folk songs” - it means “of the people”. But we use it just to mean “people” so we then lack a word for “the people”. If that makes any sense!

IDontWantToBeAPie · 20/11/2022 00:00

It just means people chill

smileandsing · 20/11/2022 00:05

Folk around here say it all the time
