I'll start. As a young teenager I wrote to a celebrity and received a signed photo with my name and a personalised specific message on. It was on my bedroom wall for years I went to uni and left it behind. While I was at uni, my mum remarried and moved house. I was not involved in the packing and moving . My things all went into boxes into the loft of the new house.
Fast forward to about 3 years ago (27 years after the house was packed up) I am unloading my laundry basket (recent purchase from dunelm) there's a cardboard stiffener at the bottom that comes away and under there is my photo. Not a photo, but the exact one. I was so baffled and a bit scared I actually cried. In the 27 years I have lived in 7 different homes, all small so I have regularly had to streamline my things. I know what I own. There was literally no way it could have been there. I'd never stored anything in the laundry basket other than laundry. It genuinely still baffles me. Anyone else had a similar experience?

I remember a story on here before where someone had been living I. Rental property that has an alcove in the main living room or kitchen but that wasn't actually there really ... that was mad!

Namechangedforspooky · 04/12/2022 20:55

That made me go completely cold. So many similar stories!

Ive got a few woo bits, im pretty sure ive posted a couple in some previous paranormal threads which ill go dig out and copy/paste as they're long, but I dont think ive ever posted about premonitions.

My mother had very strange, very specific and very provable premonitions.
3 of which I remember really well.

1 - I was a kid and we were driving to a NYE party along a dual carriageway. Mum swerved the car almost off the road as if avoiding something. She said a car had come down off the bridge above and she saw it land upside down on its roof and all the windows blowing out. I remember spinning back round to look and there was nothing there. She had said about it at the party and some people had checked local news on the TV to see if anything had been reported but nothing. No sign of it on the way home either.
A few days later we were driving the same piece of road and there was a traffic jam before the bridge. Everything was at a halt. Mum stopped car and got out to see what was going on. She had been gone for 10 minutes or so and I was worried so got out to walk down and find her, I did, she was bent over puking on the verge at the side of the road. Ahead was an upside down car below the bridge with its windows blown out, everyone dead and some blood on the road. A lorry driver had told her that it had been speeding, clipped the central reservation and flipped up in the air. It hadn't come down from the bridge but she had seen it coming down to land after the flip so assumed it had come off the bridge.

2 - I was in my early 20s and living near London. My parents had moved to France at this point. I was planning to go up to Newcastle for a short city break and was finishing early to get the train. Phone calls from mother. Several of them. Are you getting on a train? Dont get on the train. Promise me you wont get on a train. OK mother. Few minutes later rings back - just to remind you DO NOT GET ON A TRAIN. She had freaked me out and I decided i'd just suck it up and drive.
The train I was due to get on was the 5.30 from kings X on 16th June 1998.
The Sandy derailment train.

3 - This is the worst.
In the week leading up to the Zebrugge ferry disaster, mum kept telling me and my dad about these "visions" she was having. Said it was black and white and silent, and she felt like she was losing signal and her signal was being replaced by these strips of black and white film that she was watching without being there. Said that she was watching people panicking, and there was lots of water, and in some parts everything was upside down. She could see people screaming and struggling to escape and that she had seen them drown and there were floating chairs and bags and just screaming and panic.
There was a particular woman she kept referencing, she said the woman had cherry bobble bands in her hair (those old hairbands that had red plastic cherry bobbles on) she kept saying "im watching her drown" "I can see everything and I cant help and I cant make it stop"
My dad and I were weirded out. She had been saying it for a week. We sort of put it down to maybe tiredness or nightmares or that she was a bit woo and downplayed it.
Then the zebrugge disaster happened and was on the news and she flipped out, like crazy. Kept saying ive seen this ive watched this ive seen these people, this is what ive been seeing, ive been telling you about this, ive watched these people drowning, but she hadn't quite fully lost it at this point, was just agitated and a bit I told you so at my and dad.
There were some passenger pictures put up about people who were on the ferry, I cant remember if this was the same night or after, but there was a woman on the tv who had drowned and was pictured with the cherry bobbles in her hair. Mum just started screaming and crying saying cherry bobbles! I watched her die, I could pick her out of the dead. Dad couldn't calm her down so called out the GP who eventually sedated her but she spent a few days after that really distraught and just saying "I could pick her out of the dead" for ages. It was so unnerving because she'd been referencing and describing that exact woman and her fate for a week.

Ive had a premonition once, but nothing even vaguely tragic.

I was walking up the stairs to my flat which I shared with best mate/flatmate some 15 years ago. It was a top floor flat in a block in Edinburgh and not the most salubrious.
I usually got out of breath walking up the stairs but this evening I had sort of entered the front door of the building and made my way up to the flat door seemingly effortlessly and a bit dreamlike state almost as id been reading new graffiti that had been sprayed in black paint all the way up the stairwell to the flat opposites front door.
It said drug dealer lives here --> get your drugs here > (name of neighbour opposite) is drug dealing scum -> police this way to the dealers house ----> etc.
I got in and mate was home so I said, have you seen all that graffiti? Neighbour isnt going to be pleased!
She was like "what?"
I said (sort of taking the p out of her) the unmissable black spray painted graffiti N, keep youre eyes open 😆
She gave me the side eye and said she was going to go look. Got back into the flat, called me a tw*t and said thanks for making me walk up and down the stairs you arse. There's NOTHING THERE.
I was baffled because id read it all. Poked my head out of the door and she was right, nothing there, went down a few flights to check, and nothing.

Thought "weird", had the rest of the evening and went to bed.
Next morning mate is banging on my bedroom door, I get up and she says "are you having a laugh?" nope. what? she says that she left the flat to go to work this morning and the stairwell is covered in black graffiti. the exact same slogans that id told her id read. It had appeared overnight. She thought id gone out and done it in the middle of the night to prove I was right. Although conceded that this was only a half thought as I wouldn't be so stupid. (correct)
I have definitely had a premonition about graffiti.

sorry for the lack of punctuation etc in that, it was quickly typed!

😮😮😮

Here's a strange one 🤔

Last year we bought a new fridge freezer. A few months later we started finding bits of broken glass on the floor in front of it, often relatively big chunks like an inch in diameter.

So many months have passed and we're occasionally finding bits of broken glass there. Nothing has fallen out of the fridge or freezer and broken. The glass shelves in the fridge are intact. We've even moved the appliance to see if there's broken glass underneath it on the floor but nope.

Yesterday, I found another piece of glass and still have absolutely no explanation as to where it's come from.

I’ve loved reading these and have an unexplained mystery of my own although not spooky its always bogged my mind. My ds who is now 5 and by no means advanced for his age has always known what feet to put his shoes on. He has always put them on the right feet even when he was a tiny toddler putting his wellies on by himself. I’ve never once seen him put his shoes on the wrong feet and no one has ever shown him how to do it. Meanwhile I still occasionally get confused by my own wellies 🤣

Wait til you reach the stage of carefully storing your wellies in the fridge, then racking your brains about where in hell's name the cheese has got to ...

During the 70s we lived in the Med and raced dinghies a few times a week for years, I only stopped when 6 months pregnant, I crewed for the husband of a couple we knew. About 20 years ago, which was 20+ years since we'd left, for some reason I don't recall we were reminiscing about people we'd known back in the day and wondered what had become of their various children. We sat down for our Saturday breakfast and I started lookiing through the paper. In the paper was a double page spread written by one of the sons of the man I'd sailed with writing about where we'd all lived and it had a photo of him sailing in the same dinghy with his father! I'm not often speechless but I was then.

That's usually my first port of call if I can't find something, last week it was a tub of hot chocolate that I must have put away with the milk the night before.

I think there is a lot of daft stuff written about the mandela effect, but I will say this, I literally experienced the original Mandela effect. I remember being in my old house and hearing on the news that he'd died and it was an instant gut reaction of, that's impossible - I knew for a fact that he had died a few years before and remembered it being all over the news etc, so much so I spoke to my DH and he didn't 'remember' him as already dead.

I even started searching online for when he died because I thought their made a mistake on the news them discovered there was a whole thing about it.

Being an oldie I'm not too familar with the Mandela effect but I may have experienced it 70 years ago! It was a very cold, snowy February, I was almost 4 and my little brother was in his playpen in the living room, I follwed my mother outside to get some coal from the 'coal hole' just before lunch and the woman from the house opposite came to the end of the path and said to my mother 'Oh, isn't it awful, they've just announced that the King's dead'. My mother always swore this never happened, my Dad had brought her a cup of tea in bed before he left for work at about 7 and told her then, it had been on the wireless. However with all the Jubilees over the last 20 years I've discovered it was only announced late morning, the worst thing is as she's no longer with us I can't tell her she was wrong!

A small one which I think lots of pet owners will feel is familiar.

My much beloved old cat was a larger lady - a Bengal. She was large enough that when she walked down the corridor certain of the floorboards would creak quietly. She usually slept part of each night in bed with us. She died earlier this year and DH and I were both devastated.

After she died, there were numerous occasions when I’d be lying in the dark awake and then hear the tell tale floorboards creak, and then feel the warm weight of a big cat settle on my legs. DH said the same.

probably just wishful thinking and missing her.

My dh had something similar a month or so ago. We lost our old boy at the start of this year at the great age of 19. My dh was in bed the month or so ago with a really bad back. He was asleep or dozing but swears he felt the movement of our cat jumping onto the bed and snuggling up by his feet. His back then suddenly stopped hurting! It was probably a dream and coincided with his back feeling better but still a nice feeling to have.

My then-3 year old once said to me, deadly serious, "I love you but I miss my old mother and father". We never used the words "mother" or "father" so naturally I assumed it was because he was talking about a past life 😅

I had a miscarriage about 5 years ago, before DS was born. For some reason I always associated a waltz by Shostakovich with this little lost baby. I then had a healthy baby in Sept 2018. This year, a couple of months ago, I had another miscarriage. As I was bleeding and losing the pregnancy I walked / hobbled past a fairground carousel playing the same waltz (albeit in a jangly, organy kind of way). It was the first time I'd heard this tune in ages, it was really strange.

To be fair kids say really wierd stuff.

My DS fortold the story of creation but using himself in place of god, he had never been in a church or to anything biblical in his life lol.

DH & I were staying at a B&B & we'd already driven through the nearby village a couple of times, our route taking us round a sharp corner with a high, solid brick wall just after it.

One night we went out to dinner & came back on this road in the dark. All was normal as we rounded the corner; but as we went past the start of the wall, I heard a scream which was somehow in my head. I knew DH wouldn't have heard it. I waited for it to die away, but there was one scream after another, until the wall ended & at that point the scream cut off. Everything was perfectly normal again after that. I wasn't scared, more intrigued.

I told DH, but didn't follow it up for years. When I looked at a map online to find out what was behind the wall, it turned out to be a care home. Disappointed, I ignored it again for years; then I checked a bit more & found that area of the village is reputedly haunted.

I love this thread! I posted earlier about my experience but last night had another one.

My DD has a battery operated light up gonk on her bed post, she puts it on at night as a nightlight. You have to lift it up, turn it over and flick the switch to turn it on. Last night I was in her room with her saying goodnight, we were both stood up in the middle of the room and it just turned on, we both saw it. Luckily, after the initial shock and her being a bit worried about it (she's 12) she was happy to still sleep in her room 🤣

cheshirecatssmile · 06/12/2022 10:02

I live in a house that's a bit woo.
Not really bothered me too much except the black mass in my bedroom who leans over you and the hand that came over the side of the bed.

Any ways. 2 nights ago , me and partner sat in living room and we hear a thud in the dining room. Like a box had fallen. Then about 10 secs later exactly the same noise. Partner says to me that it sounds like something has fallen. I go and investigate. Nothing out of place. I walk back out of the dining room telling who I know is there to pack it in.
2 nights in a row. Me and partner in bed.
Son is out.
We hear the living room door open, it drags on the carpet. Followed by the kitchen door rattling then a bang from a kitchen cupboard.
I go downstairs to investigate again. Why it's always me I don't know.
Nothing living room door is still shut tight. Same with kitchen door.

@cheshirecatssmile please elaborate on the following?! Xxx "Not really bothered me too much except the black mass in my bedroom who leans over you and the hand that came over the side of the bed." ARGH.

SlurpSlooChortle · 06/12/2022 11:18

I had a traumatic birth that left me in hospital for three months on life support and my family were told to prepare for the worst.
I spend weeks in ITU and then moved to high dependency so can I first state I know I was on a cocktail of drugs to keep me alive and pain free, but something does still haunt me from that time.
There was someone in the corner of the room for almost my entire stay. No-one else acknowledged them, and as I started to recover and was able to chat to family I would whisper and family would say why are you whispering? And it was so the person in the corner couldn't hear my private conversations and they would always say - there is no-one here.
When I was first out of my coma they were up against my bed - stood right next to me level with the sockets at the back of the hospital bed and always out of my view so I never saw their face. They never ever spoke, only observed me. I never felt scared and used to get frustrated when my family said there was no-one there.
Over the course of time they were no longer at the head of the bed and went to their main "post" in the corner of the room, out of the way.
Then one day they were just no longer there at all.
I've asked my family about it so many times and they all say "oh it was probably a nurse etc..." but they never ever spoke or moved.
When I lie awake at night going over things that happened in the hospital - which I often do I'm afraid to say - I keep coming back to this figure. I do wonder if other people have seen similar and that is where the grim reaper type tale comes from. I'm just glad they went away and I do always wonder if I would ever see it again.
I try and never look into the corner of the bedroom at night and thank my lucky stars I pulled through.
A twin birth is a very scary thing and it changed my life forever.

I have a man in my house that stands in the dining room and follows you.
Can sometimes hear him.
Someone who walks up and down the stairs
I've had lights switch on/off
Beer cans crunch as if squashed in the middle
Lighters go off and not burn the fabric or even leave a warm patch.
And yes the black mass that's in a shape of a human that stands at the end of the bed. Partner has seen it as well. The night it leant over me was the final straw. I shouted at it.
Then the hand. A full left hand reached up over the bed. I could see the dirt in the grooves of the hand and in the finger nails. Screamed like a girl when that happened
My dog stares at certain corners of the living room and friends dog stares under the dining room table.

OH MY GOD that is fucking horrifying 🤯😰😭

The man is like he is just a ghost bumbling around in your house! Or maybe he is from another dimension and he thinks you're in his house and he hears you going about. The hand is just a big fuck-off nope though!!!

My husband and I both saw a black floaty mass hanging over us in bed one night; i woke up screaming and then DH said "please tell me you can't see that too?" And promptly went back to sleep! But I could. It was like slightly human-shaped and just floating there. Horrible. Not talked about it since.
